Correction, those are not ducks.  They are geese or possibly swans because of the long necks.  Hehe.  But beautiful as always Paul. 🙂

The seller labeled the small ones ducks, the big ones swans. I guess the small ones (the ducks) could double as baby swans too (like in the scene above), but they are usually whiter.

It's time again.

I want to play some games on the big TV, and I need to setup something different (I'll let you know).

Don't be sad. Console City will return.

Not sure how well you can see them but added a few Airbus over the layout.

not in the same league as some peoples models but want to collect as many Airbus variants as possible.

so far I ve managed an A330,A321 and an A320.

I like it. It looks good.

There's an n scale model of the international space station available on the market. You could add that too. Maybe a little closer to the shed roof.

Working on a small mining kit for some fellow club members.  The molding doesn't include any texture so I am attempting to create my own wood grain.   Not quite where I would like it but I think once it has been painted and weathered it should look much nicer than the stock version.

Today I took a break from planning some fairly major changes to the layout over the next few months.

i m removing the kato road plates as they re quite badly damaged having been used and moved three times and I m also taking up the tram layout as it is now.The tram layout will be re designed and become part of the roadway where the rd plates are now.it wil just be a double oval loop with roadway and buildings etc in the middle. It will be made as a completely seperate module that will just lift on and off and will measure 120x40cms.

The existing tram layout will become a terminus station and storage area for passenger trains. It will be accessed by fitting a spur on the outer ground level loop and passing under the two sets of viaduct track.

but today I just had a bit of fun and coupled all the freight cars together to make 3 really long Trains.Swithing tracks was hilarious with them being so long,I spent more time putting the derailments back on the tracks👍😂😂😂😂

Nice work! A file brush (those super stiff very low profile wire brushes) works well for making wood grain in plastic.

Nice! Can you describe your method?

I bought etching plates for N gauge models from a German manufacturer. In the vehicles I drilled with a 0,2mm drills, fixed the mirrors with glue and painted with Tamiya.

I got a few things done over the weekend.

large.IMG_2010.JPG.c3e8cb586b9f43d7b226e7c5a4dd5b53.JPG

The most laborious was putting together this Sankei little factory. It is interesting because it is set in an obtuse angle.

large.IMG_2008.JPG.b9973292b49969fcee22e035fb4010ce.JPG

There will be a flatiron building across the street, another Sankei. The idea is the street does not go abruptly into the background but disappears behind a building.

The level crossing will be also set at an angle.

An the road will go around this corner to reach the back of the module and connect with the road in module 1. I am adding some wooden battens at the back to make the modules a bit wider.

Hi Pauljag900.

Just a quick question, how do you protect your layout from dust?

Cheers,

I do nt,ha ha

i ve come up with an idea that’s yet to be put into practice but will be fitting a false ceiling in the shed with drop down plastic sheeting that will just lift up and sit on top,if that makes sense?

for now I do a major clean once a month.Track rubber for the track, ladies blusher brushes for the Trains and buildings, then it’s hoovered and track cleaned with isopropynol.I also use woodland scenics “dust monkey” on the cars to help keep the track clean.Any prblems on certain track areas then I just clean with a rubber.

can be a bit of a pain I guess but I use it every day virtually so the dust does nt really build up.

These days, I have been working in one of my modules.

01.thumb.jpg.71a73d0417f1f9edc00708c1c645d65c.jpg02.thumb.jpg.651f13ab9f4aed1edc00383dfb4db4dd.jpg

So I made a segregated busway which took me some time to put together but I think it looks quite ok.

03.thumb.jpg.f2285cf5b2834dfea6d58b3cd4cf88c1.jpg04.thumb.jpg.953efa2ab6f786af8b4a030173027624.jpg

The module.

05.thumb.jpg.4261a4a4f3537d1f7eff05e64bee7406.jpg

So more or less it should look as below. However, I will try to make my own bus lanes instead of using Tomytec bus lanes.

The ones in the picture are for reference purpose only.

06.thumb.jpg.dcd0440e53f56b756ae2c0e35958479c.jpg

Two modules together look like the picture below.

The idea is that the buses go from the station to the segregated bus way and then, these reach the next module via a tunnel (3rd module not shown in the pictures)

07.thumb.jpg.f876c0dea8573e1ddda30a8419cf4465.jpg

And the station which didnt change much since the last time.

08.thumb.jpg.08ad72ff7b24a236f0ed48bf2b2aae63.jpg

A question, what sort of plastic/paper it can be used to make your own bus lanes? Does anyone have experience or knows some info (a material,  plastic name, example, etc)?

Or maybe the wires are just installed on the module (wood) then some paper is glued on top? Cheers.

@NX:, I have had some success making roads with very fine sanding paper. I used PVA to glue it on 1mm balsa wood. Once dry the road makes a gentle arch. I got rid of this by just hard-gluing it to the surface of my module, but I think this is an interesting side effect. If you just use a little bit of glue of the sides you get a nice looking road. I also painted the sanding paper with diluted Tamiya German Grey.

For my modules I use cardboard tarmac effect sheets and rub on road markings, but I ve now found a 2mm wide self adhesive pin stripe tape used for cars so hoping that I can make my own markings from that now.

I finally decided to pull my finger out and tentatively make the first steps for my Keihan Keishin layout based around Kamisakaemachi Eki. I have started on building the station first which will be predominantly scratchbuilt, I will be using some parts and some Tomytec platform but the vast bulk I will make myself. Today’s work was making the platform extension that was built in the late 1990’s to accomodate the 4 car 800 Series trains, I used Balsa for the platform top and for making the pillars.
