JR 500系
Didn't do much on the layout lately, but decided to do something about the otherwise 'messy' buss collection... A simple hack and blue tag was all it needed! Should have done this LONG ago before I realise I have multiple copies of some of them... (that's just one side of the door ~ 😛 9 4 Link to comment
Yavianice
Good way to hide the bus collection from your SO, amiright? 😛 1 1 Link to comment

It was actually more for display, and to also remind myself what I already have before I keep buying multiple copies of the same bus... 1 Link to comment
Khaul
I have been working on the left hand side of the module. This area looked pretty barren, see below: Not only that, but the steps going up and into the station entrance were out of scale. I made those a long time ago. I had to do something about that too. So I have done a bit of kit bashing to have some half decent stairs. Most of this side is a factory yard. There will be a fence, a booth, and a sliding gate still under construction... ...and a place to get some nice lunch! That has nothing to do with the rest, but I just like this picture of the backyard. Edited September 10, 2018 by Khaul 9 Link to comment
sandiway
A big moment for me. For the first time, I let my son (2 years; 1 month) play with the n-gauge buses (from Kyoto and Hong Kong) while sitting in the middle of the layout. He's a bit young, so a deep breath, but I'd like to increase his engagement with the trains. I've been considering the Tomix re-release yard, but if I ever put a yard in the middle he won't be able to do this. (He has been trained not to touch the trains. Previously, he has been restricted to controlling the trains from the Tomix controllers at the side of the table only.) Edited September 11, 2018 by sandiway 14 Link to comment

Great bonding fun that cannot be achieved through any smart phone or computers... And I must say he is pretty obedient to NOT touch the trains! well done! 2 1 Link to comment

Yeah, he loves it so much that the last two days he has been insisting on sitting inside the loop. Trains whizzing by all around him. Hell, if my wife let me, I'd sit in the middle with a bottle of whiskey at night after he has gone to bed... 🙂 3 Link to comment

We started my son on Pla-Rail when he was basically a baby and he still likes them at 15, though he likes the N scale trains (and is gradually getting a collection he buys or gets gifted). He does not play with the Pla-Rail anymore really, but still has a couple he wants to get when we are in Japan, if he can find them. He has accumulated a huge collection of Japanese Pla-Rail (and a good sized Thomas collection when he was youngerr, though he does not care about those ones now) 2 Link to comment

He has his own little layout area with the Brio-style wooden track. Every day he destroys the layout and we build a new one together. I agree with you so I got him a Shimakaze when I was recently in Osaka, you might be able to spot it in the picture, but he doesn't enjoy the battery-powered train. He prefers to push his own wooden trains around his layout. Maybe he is a bit too immature at the moment for it. Link to comment

Looks to me like you are on the right path! Before you know it he will be building the layouts. 1 Link to comment
cteno4
I still enjoy pushing Brios around when I play with friends’ kids. Something very satisfying about it. Bit more hands on. jeff 2 Link to comment
Khaul
I made a mock up background to test some ideas. It is quite small. Let's see how it works in the almost finished module. I have cropped the photos and added some Apple Photo filters for dramatic effects. Most importantly, the missus is impressed. Edited September 12, 2018 by Khaul 10 Link to comment

Khaul
I watched a video about how to paint clouds with an artist sponge. Also, a few days ago I printed a photo of an industrial landscape. The clouds did not come that well so I cut out the factories and glued them over. Oh, the pencil is there just to show the size. cteno4
Nice work khaul! Great combo of effects. Sky and clouds are the thin that does not work so well in a lot of photo backgrounds. Really interesting combo here. Jeff Link to comment

Funny you should say that,a few years ago I bought some buses and cars from the Oxford die cast range, the older type jaguars, limo’s,Austin’s etc,the larger but more luxurious type cars, not 100% sure where I put them to be honest but as this module is at the very back of the layout and wo nt be seen too closely I thought I d use it to display them on,not very Japanese I know but just a bit of self indulgence I guess. thats Assuming i can find them of course ha ha😂😂👍 1 Link to comment

I don't used it since I acquired a couple of Japanese ambulances. 1 Link to comment

That's a Huge monster behind you!!! Haha lovely work! Truly amazing! That works really well! Where did you get the ducks may I ask? While I do not have the space on the layout for a duck pond, i'm thinking of a duck transporter truck haha! Did a little work on mine, not the layout, but re-visited the shrine diorama: It sits on my other display cabinet separately, with the cable car set There's a festival going on, so tents were set up to sell some local delicacies A baby getting some blessing The main shrine Place to hang your wishes Care to try some local delicacies? Police were also on patrol just in case 9 Link to comment
