Back on the layout.

ive heard it said that lichen is old fashioned😂and I would nt necessarily disagree but I need this module to be removeable as there s a lot of wiring under it so I ve edged it with lichen as it’s easy to remove and replace and hides the edges well,in fact all my modules are removeable anyway.

It looked great as a stand alone piece but now in the layout context, it looks amazing.  The road going under the track, a Shinkansen viaduct above and a local line along side the shrine, awesome.

Put my Shinkansen away for pending arrivals.

or in other terms: The commuters are back!

I had a nice relaxing birthday today, and once I got home it was time for trains!  I ordered the kato streets set back in June, I was about to ask for a refund when it suddenly showed up yesterday.  I forgot how much fun it was running 115s, I need to get some more streets to fill the loop and a few more buildings.  And then maybe some more cars and busses...

(sadly it seems my green table cloths have been misplaced, please forgive the bare table)

Cool 115's and brown table is okay - let's just say there's been a drought for a couple of years, like California.

That they are, I'm very impressed with how they look!  I'm already wanting to expand, and the details set should improve them even more.

Happy birthday! The layout is really starting to come alive! I love that you've painted the catenary insulators. I'm hoping to get around to doing that too, someday.

Progress on my Unitram layout.  All my track has now arrived and the addition with the change of layout base is coming along. Over the past couple of days I have added styrene block bases and sidewalks to a couple of back side blocks that were semi-finished for the past nine months.

I have added a 1/4 inch balsa base to bring the new open plaza up to Unitram  track level.  Next is to glue the four pieces together and paint the base a neutral gray color.

Some of the new buildings on the layout.

Another corner scene awaiting vehicles and figures.

I join the others in wishing you a happy birthday Sam.  Hope you are able to make it up to our show in two weeks.  I have been working on my modules in preparation for that show.  I got the shields made for my new module shown here.  Because space is tight we don't have any ropes up around the layout so these clear shields keep the small hands off of things.   I also have them for my older Tokyo modules.

Also been finishing off some long neglected scenes on those old Tokyo modules.  What had been an empty gray building now has some life.

The stairs on the exterior of the mister Donut building has finally been finished and signs for various businesses added to the front.

Two new Japanese police cars arrived today, to bring my total up to six. I need to buy another ten or so Japanese units so I can retire and sell off the American cop cars that are still being used on the layout.

Beautiful work Brad! I love the new coastline module. I'm curious, roughly how long does a creation like that take you.

Thank You.

This one went rather quickly as it is small, a rural scene, and I was rebuilding an old module that had been given to me.  I started in April and have been working on it off and on alternating with other projects.     I still want to make the scenery more "lush" looking and may experiment with some static grass which I have never tried before.   A pair of these modules were given to me and I now have a good idea what I am going to do with the second one so need to get that started.

The Musashi-Koyama (Tokyo) set I started in 2010 and still have a ways to go to call it finished.  Difference is that this set is urban and I did a bit of scratch building to match some of the buildings to a particular place.

Nice looking fleet of patrol cars.  My officers only have a Z and a couple of vans, and a bicycle.

Yours are definitely more tasteful and authentic. I play cops'n'robbers on my layout with the boy, so we need a ridiculous number of police cars.

That's a nice little scene btw. I love the simple sky/clouds backdrop.

Oh wow amazing fleet of police cars there! Each time I see that mini Couper, the more I like it!

That's quite a neat little authentic Showa Era police post, complete with that van!  🙂
