I got a second one in more plain colors that I'm going to use as a "communications truck" for my riot police. If you do get one of these, be careful with the little satellite dish. The joints are fragile. You have to place the base on the truck first. Then add the dish to the base. Otherwise you're likely to break it and have to glue it together. Don't ask me how I know this. 😞 ah I see... I didn't get the entire box with my truck, as I got it only with the truck... that's sad cause now I wont get the camera man and reporter! Reason I asked this was I suddenly had an idea to create a Yakuza standoff with police scene (inspired by the Yakuza game)… with plenty of black Toyota Crowns and Nissan Cedrics and plently of these (ami has them on sale) and plenty of Police cars/ vans and of course Police men, and the camera truck and reporter there to catch the hottest news ( or a bullet in the process) 😛 2 Link to comment

Could you write a few sentences about your process/method? I'd love to know how you achieved this. @JR 500系 I haven't done anything special with the weeds. I have a few packets of Noch green fluff in different tones and one brown that imitates dirt. First I cover the gap between the platform and the track with ballast. Then I get it wet with isopropyl alcohol and glue it down with a 50/50 mixture of water and white glue. I use the same method for the dirt and the weeds on top. I try to mix the different kinds of green fluff to get a more random look. I am glad you like my work. Whenever I read "that's the right amount of vegetation/weathering" I think I am doing too much of everything 🙂 I have the excuse of the Tsurumi line in the early 80's being quite crappy and industrial looking. Anyway, I have worked more today! I wanted to lay the ground of the factory yard but I could not do it until the catenary posts were in place. So I did the whole lot! I have been thinking a lot about how to do that, as it required to cut and glue a whole packet of rahmen posts. I also had to relocate the insulators so the go on top of the corresponding track. A few photos below. Because I felt like showing off I used the good camera. A general view. A KuMoHa11 departing for Tsurumi. Catenary detail. That was not our train. Night views. The red pilots seem to be on, mmm... Different angle. And the level crossing. 3 1 Link to comment

It's not too much at all. It's just laid out in a very convincing and natural appearing manner. 1 Link to comment
Pauljag900
While running some trains last night I was looking around at the gaps that need filling in and realised I d got the shrine model at the back where it can t really be seen.So change of plan for the current module is the shrine on the bottom and hotel and carnival stage on the top. 8 Link to comment
Khaul
Some time ago I made a small shrine diorama with the kids during the school vacation. Taking advantage of the rainy weather I worked today on how to integrate the diorama in one of they modules. Let's see: That's how we started. Then I added a tori gate, a couple of people and fences. A general view of the diorama ready to drop in the layout. I kept the two people in the diorama: Mr Gray Shirt... and the lady with the bag. The shinto priest decreted the branch is sacred, so the fence had to go. The diorama in the layout. The road is not there yet. The Tomytec houses could be better made, but the scene is starting to look nice. A classic one to end. Edited August 26, 2018 by Khaul 9 Link to comment
JR 500系
Very nice! I'm loving the little little details that adds on to the overall realistic serene atmosphere that the diorama is portraying! Very nice work! It would be interesting to see the progress and eventual results of this diorama! May I ask what is that Torii gate? I've always wanted a Torii gate, but I often had to paint one off myself... Link to comment
Pauljag900
Removed my shrine buildings and details from the original base as it did nt fit the space and rearranged it to fit the space I have. later when it all dries I ll make the paths and add some figures. 5 Link to comment

That looks great mate! Is that paper sandpaper? Suddenly I had a great idea to use black sandpaper instead to stimulate the road texture ~ 1 Link to comment
Pauljag900
Hi Sammy, no mate it’s these, https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F263892214721 they look like a rough finish but actually they re smooth, cardboard sheets. i use these as my first covering for all my modules,I find if you use glue or paint the foamcard it tends to bend up once dry,so I stick these to the foamcard using a really high quality double sided tape and so far it’s worked fine. 2 Link to comment

I forgot to buy a torii gate so I made one myself with two round toothpicks and a needle for the middle crossbar. The grey bases are people stands from some Tomytec set. Red acrylic would not stick to the needle. So I had to use enamel. At the time I got a wonderful Tamiya pin vise and a set of files I am now using all the time. That was my first project with these tools. Edited August 27, 2018 by Khaul 10 Link to comment

Khaul
Thanks Jeff and the others for the encouragement. I don't think I won't be doing much until the weekend. Today I got the upper track weathered. I wanted the start of the freight branch to looks substantially rustier and with more weeds than the double main. Yesterday. Today. The track on the left is rustier and darker. It must be because the loaded coal trains run on that side. Oops, this fence is facing the opposite way. Pauljag900
Glued all the buildings to the base after fitting the building lights then offered it up on the layout to mark out where the street lights will go. glued in place on a piece of mdf with foamcard supports ready to wire up. 5 Link to comment
