bikkuri bahn
Supposedly a museum will open sometime in 2018 (where??), but I can't find any recent news, or actually if there is any progress. Anyone have any info? http://www.amtuir.org/ Link to comment
bill937ca
You may find more info on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/amtuir.org Judging by their photos, they have a collection but there are no construction photos. There is a sizable collection. Edited August 31, 2016 by bill937ca Link to comment
splifdfx
The site says that the museum is currently closed. But it seems to be sometimes exceptionnally open :- 1 night in may for the European Museum Night - 1 weekend in septembre for the European Heritage DaysYou might also program special group visits on tuesdays or thursday afternoons, but you have to reserve at least 30 days before... I guess this is mostly for school trips. Finally please note that the museum is not inside the center of Paris but in the suburbs in Chelles. The museum itself is located about 15 mins by foot from the nearest suburban train station which is "Chelles - Gournay" on the RER E line. You might also want to visit the Rambolitrain museum which is all about railroad modelling : http://www.rambolitrain.com/It is located also in the suburbs in Rambouillet, accessible with the Transilien N line ; the museum is a 5min walk from the station.I went there as a kid years ago and it was a really nice experience. 1 Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Hmm, there seems to be a big disconnect between the enthusiasm of the preservation group and government authorities and the transit agencies... Link to comment
