There are no more dining cars on shinkansens... The EVA 500 has a special carriage number 1 that hoists a display area with EVA and shinkansen diorama and a 1:1 scale pilot cockpit simulator of the EVA that hosts a mini game.

There are no buggage cars also on shinkansens, just normal cars or first class (Green class) cars, but the Kodama 500 only has all normal cars.

The car with the 3 doors per side (Mpkh) is the wheelchair accessible car wich (according to wikipedia) has a shop and houses the main transformer. Car 1 is the exhibit while car 2 has seats for people queuing for car 1. The rest is all 2nd class coach seating.

So just all seats. So if somebody had a collapse able bicycle or a big bag, their kinda like screwed and have to take the slower train.

No.  They'd be able to place the larger items behind the back seat of seat carriage.  Or use a Takuhaibin luggage forwarding service.  Has worked in Japan for decades so far.

Kodama is the slowest train, for Sanyo Shinkansen that is. Even in limited express trains there are no baggage cars I think. There are spaces behind sets like katoftw mention, or use a luggage forwarding service. Only some trains that serve airports like the NEX or Haruka or Keisei Skyliner has a space for luggage exclusively.

I think baggage cars pretty much disappeared with the extinction of loco-hauled coaches.

Fortunately baggage forwarding in Japan is *very* reliable so there's not the angst about travelling separately from your luggage you might have in other countries.

Japanese trains and stations in general are not built for lots of big luggage. Most folks usually just have a small bag or two, sorta like airline carry on (but I've seen porter loads folks try to sneak on carry on airline carry on these days!). As Kato noted after the last seat there is a gap area (only 2-3') for a few larger bags or a fold up bike at the end of each car, mbut it can fill up very fast.

Folks move their larger stuff by a transport service. You leave the bags at the front desk of your hotel in the morning and they pick it up and deliver it to your next hotel, usually by the evening. Folks touring around will sometimes have a small bag for a couple of days they take with them on the train and leapfrog sending their large bag a hotel or two down the trip at a time to save money and hassle.

Trying to schlep larger bags onto the plethora of public transportation can be a big challenge and rude to the locals as well.
