miyakoji
I was just looking at the graphic of the new Micro Ace products, including the two E10s, numbers 3 and 5. 5 was (apparently) assigned to Maibara at some point. Was it there only to help trains between Shin-Hikida and Tsuruga? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JNR_Class_E10 E10-2 is preserved at Oume Rail Park Edited May 25, 2016 by miyakoji 1 Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
The E10's prior to reassignment to Maibara were used much further up on the Hokuriku Main Line in Toyama Pref. as helpers in the Kurikara Pass area, prior to the opening of the Shin Kurikara Tunnel. In 1957 they were moved to Maibara to work the unelectrified portion of the Hokuriku Line between Maibara and Tamura, as there was no dead section provided. They worked that stretch until 1962, when they were replaced by D50 types. It's unfortunate they were removed at that time, as it was before the boom in popular railfan photography from the mid-1960's. 1 Link to comment
Sacto1985
re: Shin-Kurikara Tunnel Are you referring to the tunnels between Kurikara and Isurugi Stations on the (now) Ainokaze Toyama Railway Line? Link to comment
