My Temporary Setups - Mostly Trains!

Can't make up my mind as I really like long trains too, my 8+ cars trains - need to expand to run these properly. Not running, just admiring the trains today.  I have plans of just making a train yard.

The Hankyu and Keikyu Trains started of as 4 car trains thinking it was all I needed but couldn't resist. :)

They look pretty impressive tho buddy, longer trains really look good on a layout so long as the layout is big enough, mine is just about big enough to take 8 car units but I m happy with that.

I need more real estate to run these - I usually don't run anything more than 6 cars except for the Hankyu and Keikyu as they are shorter cars. I once ran a 10 car E233 and it looked like it was chasing it's tail.

Yeah that's the problem on mine buddy, any bigger than 8 just does nt look right so I ve kept most of mine to 6 cars

Same problem here - longer than 8 cars (on the viaduct) and 10 cars (ground loop) don't fit behind the background.

I really dont like the view of a train's head and tail sticking out of the hills like an eel. :(

I just think the trains should be in proportion to the layout, but that s just my opinion, that said the long trains look pretty spectacular do nt they? I ve tried to keep mine in proportion to the loop they re on,

IMHO trains should indeed match the size of the layout, or the scenery (little trains in impressive mountain settings are the best), but in the end it's all your personal world where you decide the rules. Especially on Japanese themed layouts you can be very creative and relaxed with how you approach this issue, as this is how it's done here as well.

Depending on how you can work scenery you can 'hide' a longer train or you can bend in/dogbone curves. Speed also is a factor, when I run a 16 car Shinkansen at speed it makes my layout look a lot smaller than 16 Kokis + a locomotive.

There will most definitely be a sequel to this session as I was only able to run 6 Shinkansens.

Beautiful! It's not everyday we get to see the E1... It's like it's being forgotten... so nice to see it again!

Yes, and then you will start to want to run full consists... then combined consists...  haha   :)

But where is the one running upside down?!

Let me work on my photoshop skills and create something.

Nice looking E6 Serotta!

I'm still getting used to the unusual nose but it is nice.

I love the E1 and double decker trains.

And so it begins...

Yes, it has.

Every time I see a picture of the Hikari Rail Star I have to avoid the urge to buy it...

One of the nicest Shinkansens livery wise IMHO.

"Double your pleasure, double your fun with Doublemint gum" But in my case it's with Double Track Plate Set and a pair of Series 21000's and Series 253's.

I'm loving these Double Track Plate Set and now especially with the new addition - a ready made station for the lazy wannabe modeler in me!  :)

So much for shorter 3-4 car trains - I got the add-on sets and now they are 6-8 car trains.  The 115-300 can be a 10 car consist with the 82 and 83 added on. The 227 is awaiting the additional 2 cars.  Where does this madness end.  :)

I see the long train bug has bitten you too!  I was weak and got the add-ons for my 581 series recently, the V16 is barely big enough now!  My favorite is that 115 of course, is that a tomix model?  More importantly, when will we get to see a 115 shonan in the 15 car formation?  :P
