My Temporary Setups - Mostly Trains!

I was looking at the Kiha75 but it doesn't quite do it for me although I would get a Kiha25 in a heartbeat if it was available.  I'm surprise neither Kato or Tomix are making them as it is very similar to the 313's.

7 - Series 115's and 1 - Series 415, 3 are Kato and 5 are Tomix.  Can you spot the Kato's and the lone 415?

 

 

I have a couple of hours in the evening a couple of nights a week after the baby goes to sleep and I can do a couple of different things:

a.) Apply detail parts

b.) Plan and build a module

c.) Run trains

 

I always choose C - run trains! :)

The first from the left or the first from bottom, the one with the white and blue stripes, is the 415 series?

 

I cant figure which one is the Kato or Tomix though, couldn't catch the details on the couplers...

They all have Rapido couplers - the Kato's are the ones with the lighter grey colored roofs.  And yes, the 415 is the first one - the white one with a blue stripe and the dead giveaway is the pantograph as it's a dual voltage AC/DC Suburban train.

Buy them now while they are available and at a discount. I know it's not as exciting as buying it when it's out of stock because of the thrill and gratification of the hunt for something rare.

I keep swinging back and forth on the Golden Tobu train! One time I love and the next time I don't jump up and down. Don't think I've had a train that I keep swinging like that on! Maybe it's the gold color just not being on other trains makes it special and then weird to me! Very odd! It's kept me from buying it remembering my fickle nature with it!

You should get it Jeff... It's a special edition one too, and will be a keeper surely. The Gold is really nice also and the shape of the Spacia always appeals to the mast when it runs. People will go like: "Hey look at that golden bullet train!' And you can say: "Sorry that's not a bullet train, it's a limited express train!'

The livery reminds me of the San Francisco 49ers colors - one of my many lame excuses for buying a train.  And yes it's a bold color for a train!

Ahh serotta, I think you nailed it! I grew up in Oakland so I loathe the 49rs! It was the subconscious coming up and kicking my train brain in the butt! It is even helmet shaped! Lots of silver and black trains so those just got s subconscious reinforcement!

 

Damn, guess I can't get it now! But good too many trains here now!

I understand the urge to do this, because I possess it myself. But I've trained myself out of this habit. I will still correct people where it's of consequence (e.g. an engineering meeting) but otherwise I think people are happier just enjoying existence.

Simple oval with point to point action.  My Kiha 110's and 111/112's are multiplying.  

 

4 Formations: 1 car 110, 2 car 110, 2 car 111/112 and 4 car 111/112.

Oh my... Just look at all those Kiha-111s.... They are like forming a formation by themselves!  :)

 

Do you happen to also have the Tohoku-Emotion Kiha-111 by chance?

No I don't - I'm not too keen on the livery.  Looks interesting though.  Although there's a Greenmax coming out that I like - white with a red stripe.

Very nice, I was a somewhat disappointed with the performance of my first kato steamer (a 9600形), so I've been been hesitant to buy another one.  But looking at that C62 has me sorely tempted.

How old was the 9600 though when you purchased it?

I believe it was released in 2002, but I got one new in box.   The power pickup is really poor and it tends to stall frequently even after the track has been cleaned.  I've been tempted to permanently attach a freight car and wire it as an additional power pickup.

Hey Kiha66,

The new Kato Steam Locomotives are really nice, I have an older Kato D51 and a newer version and the new one is so much better detail and running wise.
