kvp Posted October 29, 2016 Share Posted October 29, 2016 These EMUs will feature a complete propulsion system in every car so the train can keep running even when one car's system fails. This is a first for S-Bahn Berlin EMUs. It looks like they are still married pairs as the track brakes are not duplicated, just the traction units. The latter is thanks to the modern one box per bogie design and these cars have only one motor bogie. The same system was used on many chicago elevated, irt and jgr emus. The design does look good, but through car gangways are still only provided at the cabless ends, so between sub sets of two or four cars only. (Mc-Mc and Mc-M-M-Mc) Link to comment
