Welshbloke
Hope this is the right place to ask this! I've just bought a 1:1 scale example of these weird and strangely practical vans (originally only sold in Japan, but very popular as personal imports to other RHD countries), so was wondering if anyone knows of an N scale model of them? nartak
I think Bongo Friendee is passenger wagon apart from the van or cargo. Popular among those people who do camping like the one in below URL. http://www.geocities.jp/friendy_sg5w/ I have never heard of the N scale model. It seems available in TOMICA before but discontinued. Link to comment

Davo Dentetsu
Cheers Davo, I had a good laugh at that Suppose I can laugh about it now. Failing fuel pump on Boxing Day during a 40+degC day. Joyeux Noel, indeed! Link to comment
Welshbloke
Yeah, the Friendee is an 8-seater MPV/camper van thing from the factory, with or without an electric rising roof (with the wonderful name of "Auto Free Top"). Mine's now a six seater as it has a small kitchen module bolted in place of one of the third row seats. Also sold as the Ford Freda for some reason. I knew about the Tomica diecast models but was wondering if anyone made a smaller one, I can find things like the Toyota Hiace but no Bongos. Main problems with them here seem to be rust and overheating, the latter is usually caused by a failed coolant hose leading to a cracked cylinder head. Luckily mine seems to have had a cooling system overhaul shortly before I bought it, so hopefully it'll behave itself! Link to comment

JR 500系
I couldn't find the Bongo Friendee in N scale, but there are 2 Mazda Bongo vans in HO scale: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10102730 The Car Collection 80 HG 016 Mazda Bongo Van East Japan Railway Company (I kinda like this one to be frank) http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10121347 The Car Collection 80 HG 021 Mazda Bongo Van CocaCola Link to comment
yakumo381
What! Mazda made these? For non-Brits, for those of a certain age this is what the name Bongo immediately brings to mind. (Pity the poor Bongo...) Link to comment
mrp
Are those Bongos in the 3rd row from Tomytec Car Collection Vol.7? Might be a bit hard to find now though. Link to comment
mrp
If you don’t mind “Panasonic” on the side, Car Collection G3 has one: Still in stock at some suppliers: http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=RAIL-16979 Link to comment
Welshbloke
Those are the "standard" Bongo though - the Friendee looks like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_Bongo#Bongo_Friendee_.281995.E2.80.932005.29 I'll keep my eyes open, no telling what might pop up in the future! Link to comment
