bikkuri bahn
Being towed through a station. *why aren't there more videos of this, given the number of enthusiasts in the UK? If this was Japan, you would probably have three or four video versions of the same train at the same location/time, by different people. Edited May 15, 2015 by bikkuri bahn Link to comment

Martijn Meerts
It's not the most pleasing sound in the world no :) Also, apparently they're using Arnold couplers, that's a massive gap in between the cars ... Edited May 15, 2015 by Martijn Meerts 1 Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Short BBC segment with some shots of testing on the Old Dalby test track, and cab interior/drivers desk: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-33533467 Link to comment
kvp
Also, apparently they're using Arnold couplers, that's a massive gap in between the cars ... When you have very sharp turnouts and S curves, you can either have tapering ends to keep the cars from hitting each other's corners or increase the distance between them. Older cars had tapered or rounded ends, while newer cars tend to be straight with a longer connection. The cab video is great, it looks very similar to the cab of a modern german ice emu. bikkuri bahn
Another nighttime video of the trainset being towed. Better quality than the one at the top of the thread. Edited July 23, 2015 by bikkuri bahn Link to comment
katoftw
the doors and the steps are so far away from the platform. Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Probably a result of their length and the requirement not to run afoul of platform edges. Link to comment
