Interesting article on the benefits of paper media wrt maps. I include this because I find this is also true with railway schedules. Fair use quote: link: https://www.citylab.com/design/2019/01/paper-maps-digital-navigation-google/581092/

This fellow took an official guide from 1937 and made a modern, subway style map out of it detailing the extent and frequency of rail service at that time. Interesting exercise. https://thegreatermarin.wordpress.com/2015/04/06/mapping-the-derelict-lines-of-the-bay-area/

This week's episode of Seasoning the Seasons (recommended) on NHK World was about a temple/neighborhood in Osaka called Hozenji, not far from Nankai Namba Station. I had a look at the Google map of the area, and when changing to streetview, I noticed these orange spots on the map. Pegman can be moved to them, just like the blue lines, but these are interiors; in this case, many of them are restaurants. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=loc:34.667858,135.502628&hl=en&ll=34.66798,135.503115&spn=0.002001,0.002894&t=m&z=19

google maps street view general announcment
miyakoji posted a topic in Japan Rail: Pictures & Videos
I noticed in the last month or two that streetview has been added for several regional cities and towns. Places with streetview that I don't think had it before include Saijo, Ehime; Masuda, Shimane; and Tsuyama, Okayama. I checked a few other somewhat out-of-the-way places randomly, and there's now good coverage in Nikko, Aizu-Wakamatsu, Otaru, and Tokushima.-
