A @#$%!& lockout?

That's not good. The track for my project just hit customs =(

At least it hit customs.  If it was in Japan it would be going back.

hey hey,

Just received my order from BTtrains.com today.

Ordered on Tuesday (6/14) and it arrived today (6/16)

I purchased some Tomix Finetrack.. a mini turnout set and assorted track pieces.

For the track I purchased, prices were right on par with Hobby Search & Plaza Japan.  Toss in the free shipping from BTtrains.com and I saved probably $15 over HS or PJ..

I will order from BTtrains again for my Tomix Finetrack needs.

Ugh. With the number of SAL things I have that are somewhere between Japan and Canada, that's even worse news. At least the Finance Minister has had enough and is going to order them back to work....

Got to stop looking at HS. :grin Last night I ordered a Micro-Ace A3391 Series Kiya E193 `East I-D`and a A9616 C60-7, when I checked to see if had received the confirmation email there was another one saying my 15 car Tamu 5000 tank car set was in stock.

HS Japan loves me as I keep buying items via their online store! the Micro ACE E491 East I-E has just been restocked and I will be having a few more items coming in next month. This has been the year for releasing and re-releasing Shinkansens.

My Tomytec Kodansha car arrived...amazing, it took 60 days for it to crawl from HK to Brazil!

A curiosity...by any chance did Tomytec make two types of 12m chassis? The Kodansha car comes with with a type of sideframe which is not present with the TM-04 mechanism.

Cheers NB

Just got back from the US Open in Bethesda MD where I got to see Y.E. Yang and Ryo Ishikawa.  Plus had a "fabulous" dinner at Satsuma's with the JRM Members.  Found a Kato #3034 EF210, plus the Tomix 92007 Track-Cleaning Car set in my mail box.  Couldn't ask for a better week.

I was in my LHS today for some supplies, and I noticed they had some of the new Kato Portrams and a white Centram (Kato 14-802-1).  I haven't generally been impressed by the Portrams, but the simple colors of the white Centram really appealed.  It didn't hurt that they were selling it for US$78 (perhaps trying to sound out the level of interest as they also had the E5 basic set, but at a higher price than MB Klein).

So I now have a Centram for my Urban Tram layout (guess I need to get cracking on building that). It's so low-slung it has problems with rough track joints (and I had to remove the Kato "grade crossing" rerailer from my test track as it kept hanging up on it), but it just seems to glide over the track. And it doesn't exhibit the "sag" in the center than I've seen mentioned with the Portrams.  Don't know if I was just lucky, or they changed the design, but it's dead level.

The big windows and lit interior cry out for figures.

Micro Ace A8907 DD50-4/5 two unit diesel arrived from HS today. Very nice looking engines with nice detailing. The frame fills the body shell but there is a depression at the rear that might be enough room for a small decoder.

Well I didn't "order" them as I'm in Japan this week, but I picked these up yesterday and today:

That's a Tomix Twilight Express (main plus A sets), RM models, the KATO track book, replacement couplers for the Twilight Express (it's got rapido couplers stock) and a bottle of KATO oil, which the guy at Tam Tam made sure I knew I should only use on KATO models for some reason.  Well, that's actually why I bought it anyway, to try to fix my noisy KATO E531.

I've kinda got a little buyers' remorse about the TE - I love that train and my wife and I actually tried to take it on this trip (the suite room was booked solid from the first minute tickets were on sale for every day we're here), but the rapido couplers combined with the weird way that Tomix makes their sets make me kinda wish I'd gone for a Cassiopeia or 100 series shinkansen set instead.  Now I'm on the hunt for the B set just so I can store everything properly (Tam Tam didn't have it).

You've got to use it on a Tomix loco and tell us what happens. :grin

Food for further construction of my mini-module layout!

Well, if the rest of your modules come out looking as good as your bridge and tunnel modules did you'll have a layout to be proud of!  :grin

Cheers,

Recently received the semaphores I ordered from Plaza Japan.. Turns out I ordered the wrong ones :)

My own fault of course.. I ordered 2 "exit signals for side track" rather than 2 "exit signals for main line" .. I thought that with "side track" they just meant branch lines, but that wasn't the case.

Plaza Japan didn't have the ones I actually needed, so I ended up ordering them from Hobby Search. And as always, whenever I order from HS, I end up adding things I don't really need, so now I have 2x http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10053397 , 1x http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10113202 (I can probably start building an Enoden-only layout by now, I think I have 5 or 6 of their trams :)) and 1x http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10007624 on order.

Just got two Daihatsu three-wheel carts and an RDC-1.  The RDC-1 was bought with "modeling license" to work the inside loop on the layout I'm working on.  Only problem - I didn't account for how big the unit is compared to my Kiha 110s.  So, it's already earned the nickname "Kujira".

It's been a busy week for me.  I've received a bunch of Tomix Fine Track and some Kato signals (the former for my Urban Tram layout, the latter just to play with) and I have an HS order on the way with the remaining Fine Track I need for the layout.  I have a week's vacation coming up in July, and plan to get some serious work done on the layout.

I also just had a Tomytec car collection pre-order show up at HS, and some Digitrax electronics I'd ordered show up at a LHS, which I need to go pick up.

I wasn't really expecting all of this at once, but it's going to give me something to do.  :grin

Received the TU-16S power bogie today.  Only took 3 months to arrive.  Have all the parts now to kit-bash the Greenmax #308 to make the Kumoya 22001 - all I need now is time.  Anybody got some to spare

My two orders arrived today from HS (well, one arrived yesterday and spent a day at the post office because I wasn't home to sign for it). One was a bunch of track for my tram layout, the last I'll need.  And one was two boxes of Tomytec Car Collection Vol. 14, which I'd preordered months ago.

I was really looking forward to these, as I need more modern cars for my highway and streets, and while I have others, these were typical small and relatively modern sedans, instead of minivans, or cars from the 70s, and by the box art at least, a relatively low volume of "useless" police vehicles and ambulances (I have more than I need).

Well, almost. Packed away in one of my two boxes was a "mystery" set that included a Honda Today in police colors.  Now I'd been thinking I'd have to paint one of my white Today's to make one of these, so this was a very happy surprise.  Now I just need to find a couple of sitting policewomen figures...
