cteno4
It was expensive but the 4 car unit made it not hurt as much as the full set! It’s nice, ver light feel to the art, not heavy anime painted train in your face! jeff Link to comment

We now have an Evangelion battle scene module in the club now so figure it’s time to go Evangelion! Cheers Jeff Zankoku na tenshi no you ni Shounen yo, shinwa ni nare... Sorry, couldn't help myself there. That Eva-train looks quite smart, Jeff, I'm (almost) tempted but it doesn't fit in with any of my other stuff so it's not on the purchase list. I finally managed to get all my new N scale stuff out now that I'm practically back to full health (yay!). Starting with this little lot: Who doesn't love an orange train? Way back last November I decided I liked the taste of eight-car 103s. After letting it fall off my list of Malevolent Priorities, I finally got around to adding the last four cars - three in this past shipment alone. Now for the last piece of the puzzle, swap a chassis on a KuHa 103 so it has a taillight prism again, and add number transfers to all cars without wonking up the transfers. Don't want to do that again, oh no no... And three more HoKi 800s just 'cause apparently I'm a masochist who loves finding the nicest, most-complicated-to-assemble, trains out there and torturing myself with them. Yeesh! Well, OK, actually I don't enjoy torturing myself with fiddly little bits, but I did have spare numbers, and Jeff baited me with this last year after I posted photos of a Tomix 98735 set: On 7/8/2021 at 12:04 PM, cteno4 said: But ocd says those slots must be filled! 😜 OK Jeff, I'm blaming you for this one! Is the OCD satisfied?🤣 Seriously though, these look good and I'm happy. Still haven't got them running yet though. I need to stop procrastinating and play with some trains. bill937ca
An impulse purchase Kato 7011-4 DE10 from HS with EMS shipping. Although EMS shipping was more expensive it saved me money as I did not have to pay the DHS tax and service fees of around $30 and if I am not here it goes to the local post office down the street. Interesting, all three items are marked made in Japan. Kato being made in Japan is not a surprise. Tomytec/Tomix is different. I almost assume everything is made in China. The livery on this one is really nice, the photos dont do it justice! Of course, our fav Eva is looking cool as usual... There's actually a unit 01 and unit 13 on both sides of the car Saw this in the bargains bin as well, might as well extend our Kintetsu fleet further Never get enough of E233s ~~~ And a lucky strike on the recent HS sale FINALLY, the Seibu S train 40000 series! This looks really cool, with the lights and silver colouring and contrasting colourful doors! 8 Link to comment

Yes that is correct, the model SCREAMS Greenmax, even the sticker sheet~ The model is pretty nice, only negative point, like GM models, the middle car without motor has NO electric-conducting stripes, which means an additional TR200 is required in order to install interior lighting.... ED75-775
Oh dear, my Yahoo fingeritis is getting worse... it's gone and brought me some more trains! One Kato 8620 and a Tomytec Kyoto 2000-series tramcar, to be precise. And that's probably just as a starting point too! Send help...😅 I also snagged some spare decals for my Tomix 97935 set at the same time, which I need to fix the goofed-up cab front numbers at one end, I already fixed (read: replaced with the correct number) the other end last night. And as a bonus, the tram comes with a motorized chassis already, so I don't need to buy that, plus it's the first version with running number 2001 which I've been inside during my visit to Kyoto in May 2019. Decided it was worth jumping on, that may well be the impetus I need to go down the Japanese tramway rabbit-hole in time. By the way, the real tram 2001 is parked on its own display track near Umekoji-Kyotonishi Station, and hosts a photo display showing Kyoto's trams and trolley buses in service. Captions all in Japanese though, but the photos kind of speak for themselves! Here's my photo of 2001 open one Sunday afternoon: According to Japanese Wiki, six 2000-series trams were built in 1964. All were retired in September 1977, with one held for preservation (2001) and the other five were on-sold to the Iyotetsu where they became that operator's MoHa 2000 type, all of which are still in service today. railsquid
Oooh, trams, that reminds me I must order the new Tomytec Tatra. railsquid
The meagre results of a Christmas Day Raid on the Kato store, most of the bits I wanted weren't in stock so I ended up getting a couple of the new tram motors, and some other bits which might come in handy one day so might as well stock up now while they're there as no doubt they won't be when I need them... Bonus item: a little credit-card sized Kato calendar. Edited December 25, 2022 by railsquid 5 Link to comment

Bonus item: a little credit-card sized Kato calendar. It's too bad that Kato designed the ends of the new 2-axle tram motorized chassis so that it does not support the couplings on the Kato-Lemke motor-trailer pairs. It seems so short-sighted, given Kato's usual high level of thought that goes into their products. Otherwise I would be buying a lot of the new powered chassis to improve operation over plastic frogs in points and crossings. Rich K. 1 Link to comment

Kato does good models, but I have come to notice that their model/product conceptualization is not always the most optimal or logical. There has been more than a few flukes and misses over the years. Least of all the conception of the slotless motor and their solution to it. Link to comment
