Kamome
Thanks for your review @nah00 The DD51 set certainly looks nice, although, as you mentioned, the price is pretty high but lots of containers. I think you were lucky to get on the preorders, stock disappeared pretty quick from many of the main chains. There are 2 local shops near me which still have stock, 1 has a single box left which is the SRP of ¥65,000 or another shop have 2 left, possibly soon to disappear at ¥51,900. Had we not had such heavy rain yesterday deterring people out, I think they’d already have disappeared. Those chemical containers would be a welcome addition and the cover art on the set is something more companies should do. 1 Link to comment
SL-san
Two recent wins from Yahoo Auctions via Zenmarket bring my SL collection up to 29 (was 31 but I sold two). Should I stop now? The C52-6 was a hard one to find and I paid a bit more than I planned but it is a nice model in mint condition already fitted with a Microtrains coupler to the tender. Graeme 7 Link to comment
Yavianice
@nah00 great review. I saw the KOKI containers are in Cardboard…. Isn’t the cardboard super fragile now that it is empty? Can you replace it with a CASCO container foam or something like that? Link to comment

The containers come in a sleeve of each and come in their own cardboard 'bookcase'. I opted to just store the the two bookcases separate instead of in the cardboard cover to avoid wear, the container case fits in the slipcase with the carboard box for the two bookcases (plus I put all the foam inserts in the empty box). Cat
ZenMarket haul just arrived via FedEx in 2 days. Some N scale train stuff, a bunch of stompy robots in 1/144, 1/200, and 1/288 (all ~3" tall for gaming, except for the aptly named Monster in 1/200). The Wacky Races dishes of Ken-Ken & Milk-chan (Muttley & Penelope) were Mobil giveaways in Japan. The Gekkan Senshado special issue for Girls und Panzer was the reason for the shopping spree. For whatever licensing deals Bandai has going, they wouldn't ship directly to the US, so I turned to ZM to pre-order this. The day it arrived in the warehouse began 45 days of Yahoo Auction fun, and also placing an order through ZM for the Tokyo Diorama Factory paper kits. Whee! 5 Link to comment
Giugiaro
Note to self: Ask to get the post-code printed in the address before the city name, or you risk having your parcel do a random detour to the district capital. Or worse. EF30 and EF81-300 from KATO, preordered from Plaza Japan, and shipped ahead of schedule. 😁 9 Link to comment
Tuga
That is odd, never had that issue with the Postal Code. It usually appears included in the address, maybe Plazajapan had some software upgrades and it's now printing in a different way. Still the postcode is present in the label so there is no escuse to go missing. É apenas uma questão de abrir os olhos. LOL Link to comment
JR 500系
My longest train consist (that isnt a bullet train aka shinkansen), in separate packages to reduce shipping Masaharu san did me a favour again to slot in the 3-car add-on set into the 4-car bookcase to save space for shipping ~ That's a face i like! This Kiha-54 looks great as well! And some parts that cost a hand and a leg to ship... HS really dont do well with DHL shipping. The box above costs 2391 yen to ship, while the first box from RG with the 2 bookcases costs 2400yen. Not sure whats happening here. Edited June 14, 2022 by JR 500系 6 Link to comment

JR East
Ordered initially on Jan 11th, 2022, it seems that the parcel had an issue so that, HKTILC sent another one in mid March .... received only today. HKTILC delivered me 21 (3x7) instead of the 17 ordered maybe as compensation. I'll have enough for my JR E353 set (9+3) and some changes on other trains + Spare for Type X in bulb as they are frequently out of stock. For one item, the delivery was done in Kato 5067 empty crystal box ... no clue why Long delivery but at least delivered JM. Edited June 17, 2022 by JR East 2 Link to comment
railsquid
A while back I acquired this: Tomix KiHa 58 "Alps" set by Rail Squid, on Flickr Finally acquired the add-on set: Somewhat more expensive than I would normally want to pay, but that's a sure sign Tomix will re-release both very soon... 3 2 Link to comment
Kamome
A couple of very small, buy it cause you saw it purchases from my local neighbourhood hobby shop. Can motorise my Dazaifu tour bus now. The shop also had 2 of the BM-01 motors but haven’t got anything that takes these. All BM-02 And it seems a number of local shops are now stocking a number of exclusive HC Kato items so thought I’d get these commemorative containers of the diorama contest. 9 Link to comment
Arctic
A small order finally arrived today from RG-Rokko. DHL got it stuck in a loop between Hong Kong-Bahrain-Leipzig-Hong Kong-Bahrain-Leipzig for a few days... It's the Yu Yu Salon Okayama 12 series passenger coaches Quick run as an SL Yamaguchi... 10 1 Link to comment

I've been wanting a nice-looking commuter EMU lately, so those definitely pique my interest, haha. Today I got this in early from DHL: Micro Ace's North Rainbow Express! This is actually a late birthday gift that my girlfriend got me. She originally ordered Micro Ace's A8257 version which has the Kiha 183-1 attached as a pinch runner, but the eBay seller supposedly had an issue with their stock and is trying to get Micro Ace to replace it (which I'm not sure how possible that is). So we got the original A8254 version on Yahoo Auctions via ZenMarket. It's used but seems to be in perfect condition. I have to admit, I originally only wanted this train for the colorful stripes but as I learned more about it (such as it even having gone through the Seikan tunnel - albeit with some assistance from an ED79), it's become more and more of a favorite. Maybe not the right section to ask this, but does anyone know if this train is a special case with it being used on so many different routes? I haven't heard of other trains that often get used as a substitute train or that run several different routes like the North Rainbow Express has. 12 Link to comment

Would depend what is defective. My Laview arrived with a missing axle and RGR sent me a replacement boggie they got from MA. As a private individual, you can send your defective set back to MA for repairs; if you have proof of buying. I believe GM offers the same kind of services; when there is an issue with a set they usually ask people to send them their sets for exchange/repairs. arkh
That makes sense. I've heard about being able to get repairs or exchanges done through the manufacturer, but we were a bit uncertain about what might happen in this case since it doesn't seem like this item is readily available for purchase anymore. The seller also has been a bit spotty with communication and it had been almost a month already so we figured we might as well look elsewhere, just in case. Do you know how long this sort of process might usually take if it is possible? The seller had just been saying they haven't heard a reply from Micro Ace yet, so that didn't help with us wanting to just wait on them. Link to comment

Congrats! *Congrats on a wonderful girlfriend as well, she's a keeper! 🙂 I love the Rainbow express... Not only does it have an unique front and rear cab car, colourful stripes, it also features high decker cars like Kiha-71, 72 Yufuin no mori which is really nice! I hope i have more luck with hunting down mine! Thanks for sharing the pictures! Link to comment

I'm glad to hear from someone else that likes the North Rainbow Express! Definitely the design of the North Rainbow speaks to me as well. Another specific aspect of its design that I love are the large windows. They are kind of similar to the Super View Odoriko which is another favorite train of mine, where the windows go all the way up and curve into the ceiling. I hope you're able to find one yourself. I admit, I actually didn't think I'd ever be able to get one until my girlfriend tried looking for it. It ended up being easier than I thought and the price actually wasn't crazy (although, the one I got is technically used even though it's in such perfect condition, so I guess that is why). So definitely just keep an eye out! 52 minutes ago, disturbman said: No idea. But I remember reading a person saying they had no news until a carrier delivered their repaired set. I still regret-ish not buying it back in 2010 when it was on sale at a shop that has since closed. If you like that kind of configurations, you would also like the KTR001. 9 hours ago, arkh said: I was a bit skeptical of this eBay seller due to the way they've responded, but I'm less so now. arkh
I hadn't heard of the KTR001 at all until now. That's a great suggestion. Now I'm going to have to look into this train as well. And yes, we did end up getting a refund but we were holding onto the order until this last week in case they were able to procure a brand new product. They've said they'll send a message if they do end up getting it back in, so I guess we'll see if that ever occurs. I was thinking they might be trying to run out time that you're allowed to request a refund, but who knows I guess. Link to comment
Das Steinkopf
I have been very lazy posting here as I have been busy with other things, I received this beast of a set a few weeks back and hope to have some spare time to give it a test run soon. For anyone still after this set Nariichi has a few at a very good price. 9 Link to comment
