... ???by the way: what is the famous "surprise" that should have been included in "Railway Collection #8" box? ???

That's the Hitachi Tetsudou 3000 Type in orange-cream livery. Nice collection you got there! :)

Actually very nice collection of old EMU. The Hitachi 3000 was already included in the 10 pieces collection ???, but clad in the standard red livery with white/grey stripes. There isn't any Hitachi 3000 in orange-cream

Its not in every set, but completely at random.  Its an attempt by Tomytec market their sets of twelve (cars, structures, railway collection) like baseball cards and is noted by some vendors like Hobby Link Japan.

You get twelve items, which may or may not include the mystery item.

Oh for the love of smeg!!! Let's not make a thing out of this. Typing on an iPhone is bad enough as it is.

BBQ train arrived today. Detail on it is beyond any other trainset I have.

Wooo I got my greenmax "Two 5 story buildings" kit in the mail, came pretty quick.  It's a lot smaller than I thought...

I have another one on the way.  I'm going to try to combine two kits into one reasonably sized office building.  The same day a package came while I was at work and they left a slip behind, not sure which one it is as I've still got my main plaza-japan order along with a half dozen small ebay wins.

Shipment notice just came in for my N700-7000, n700-8000 and E5 (not looking forward to the taxes on that package ;))

The mailman just dropped off my last order from Plaza Japan, which came SAL (ordered 3/19, and may have arrived earlier in the week as I was away on a business trip) and mentioned that he'd thought he'd seen another package for me on his supervisors desk, so it might arrive later today.  Apparently EMS isn't always delivered by the normal carrier (I've had packages come both ways) and when the clerks deliver it they have until 3 PM to do so (and from my experience they do so after the local office closes and they're on their way home, typically phoning to say "are you home?" first, but not always).

The PJ SAL order (which I'd swear I'd ordered EMS; I never use SAL) was a bunch of trackside and roadside details; fences, phone poles, etc. The EMS one I'm still waiting on contains my HS preorders for the E5 and Tomytec bus system (which they appear to have shipped together).  So now I'm sitting here, unable to go out and run some errands I had planned (one must have one's priorities; food shopping comes after trains  :grin ), and chewing my nails in anticipation.

I'm still awaiting my Kato V15, which I paid for this morning, not to mention the matching concrete-tie single track sets I just ordered.  March was an expensive month, and most of it showed up in the last week.

I just got my Centram, fences, and finetrack in the mail from plaza japan!!!

I also got a big american order from midwest rail junction.  Bunch of track, turnouts, some woodland scenes grasses and bushes, and some code 55 rail joiners because I'm an idiot and clicked the wrong one.  They even threw in a nice pen and a hand written thank you.  I love midwest rail junction!

Just ordered at HS. I wanted to go for Plaza Japan as they are cheaper, but they didn't have the deck girder bridge in stock. I need it for a module I'm planning and I don't want to wait. Also, for this module I needed tunnel portals and the most appealing ones were from Greenmax.

Mini Points for, well, anyone with trams and tomix track needs 'em. WAMU 70000 because I needed black boxcars (I only have a few WAMU 80000 that are brown) and I wanted to buy a Kawai product.

High school students. Like the Mini Points, you need 'em. They are somewhat obligatory for any Japan-focussed layout.

- Fine Track Deck Girder Bridge(F) (with 2 Brick Piers/Red) (Tomix)

- Fine Track Mini Rail Set Points Set (Track Layout MB) (Tomix)

- Wamu70000 (3-Car Set) (Kawai)

- Tunnel Portal for Single Track (for Electric Car) (Greenmax)

- The Human 023 Students (Winter Uniform) (Tomytec)

The postman delivered the credit card bills to the missus, and March was not a good train month (depending on perspective of course).  A number of things on order forever that showed up and there were a few unplanned train events.....

- Purchased 13 North American locos from the N-Scale Enthusiasts Club auction.  Saving about 6 or 7 for future gift-giving events for Nik.  I think I have enough train gifts until he's 25 or 30 now.  They all are awaiting DCC conversion, but it's going to be a while since the missus is confiscating my credit cards for a while.

- Bought an enormous number of decoders for the good Captain on our forum here to convert 6 of our Japanese train sets.  (A better plug for Don's installation service is coming, I promise)

- I found a Minitrix German Federal Railroad (DB) class VT 04.5 powered rail car train in a hobby shop while on our weekend trip last weekend with interior lighting that was a good deal and I wrestled with getting it (the missus actually said "go do it"), and Nik picked up a Trix Torpedo Ladle car

- Our Fox Valley Hiawatha set showed up (after almost 2 years of pre-order...oops).  The first one had serious problems, but the LHS swapped us for the last one they had. Unfortunately, I can't say it's anywhere nearly in our tops for running or detail.  But it is an interesting looking train, no doubt.

- Our Athearn NMDOT "Railrunner" showed up (after about 18 months of pre-order), and we found the matching passenger cars (which oddly are no longer available, just as the locos are coming out).  It has Tsunami sound already installed.

- My Fleischmann 4-piece Diesel Multi-unit VT 11.5 with lighting and the best sound I've ever heard in n-scale showed up after who knows how long being on pre-order.

I missed getting us pre-ordered on the E5;  Hopefully more will show up somewhere!
