Left track plates and switches are non existent at the moment so its a good haul. Inobu 1 Link to comment
bill937ca
Another shipment from Plaza Japan today. This one is a Kato Hiroshima Electric Railway 1000 Type two tram Piccolo / Piccola set, #10-1604. This one came with Free International Expedited shipping which turned out to be DHL. Shipped from Osaka on Tuesday via DHL Cincinnati to Bellville in four days. Cool! There will be some changes to the tram layout this weekend to accommodate the additional trams. railsquid
Another one from the Random Pile of Uncatalogued Acquisitions: MicroAce KuMoYuNi 147 (147-1) by Rail Squid, on Flickr Acquired together with something I actually wanted, as it was ridiculously cheap and in mint condition. The real thing was converted from a Chuo Line 101 series (モハ101-141 if anyone's taking notes) and was then converted back to passenger use as a 123-40 series on the Minobu Line. tossedman
It's been a long time since I've bought any trains, but after browsing through the Rail Gallery Rokko thread I took a look at their site and purchased one of these. A Kato (10-950) Takamatsu-Kotohira Railway 30 type. I watched this Youtube video on weathering one and just had to buy one. I was very pleased with the packing. Rail Gallery Rokko opened the package and put small pieces of foam at the ends of the train in the Kato styrofoam packaging to stop any movement from happening during shipping. Looks like fun. Cheers eh, Todd 12 Link to comment

bill937ca
At least Canadians get cheaper shipping than Americans under the new Japan Post rate schedule. Now if we can just send DHL packing with their service charge scam. https://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/2021fee_change/index_en.html Edited April 24, 2021 by bill937ca Link to comment

There's a proposed class action lawsuit against DHL over these fees. https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/dhl-class-action-hidden-fees-1.5987195 And it's cheaper to ship to Canada via Japan Post for packages under 1kg. Over that, Zone 4 (USA) gets cheaper. Edited April 24, 2021 by tossedman Link to comment

tossedman
I'm sure that's the plan Jeff. Buy lots of heavy stuff and you'll pay less for shipping. Link to comment
ED75-775
Landed another 8620 on Friday into New Zealand. Now I just have a set of Kato ReMu 5000's waiting in Osaka on this one auction I'm eyeballing on Zenmarket which closes tonight and which I want to win as it has that missing 5003-1 coach I keep wanting and (not) finding. Also sitting in Tokyo and freshly purchased, a set of 3075 number plates but NO bodyshell. My contact has tried everywhere and found the shells have all sold out. So, does anyone happen to know someone who DOES have one in stock? It's the last piece I need to complete my ED75-1000 which has been sitting in a box of other trains just waiting to be finished off. If someone knows someone who has a shell in stock and is willing to help me out, I'd be very willing to pay for the inconvenience. Sensible prices, mind... I do have to pay for all the stuff I've preordered through HobbySearch! Oh, and speaking of HobbySearch preorders, here's my lineup for the future: April: Tomix 7142 EF66-0 (preparing to ship), Kato 5240 MaNi 60-200 (waiting on availability) May: Tomix 97935 JR West Commuter Train Series 103, Tomix 98735 Express Freight 10-Car Set June: Tomix 8734 WaMu 80000 (middle ver.) (plus some Rhaetian Railway stuff...) 😉 July: Kato 2024 C57, Kato 5256/57/58 Series 32 coaches August: Tomix 8726 WaKi 10000 Plus I should get a nice letter carrying some Tomix JC0310 couplings and JC0313 springs on Tuesday, also ex-HobbySearch! 3 Link to comment
Kamome
Not the train but just a small purchase from my very astute local hobby shop, Fukaya. The owner sensibly ordered in some 813系 update parts sets along with the rest of this months releases. I’ll post the difference with the old 10-813/814 set once complete. 6 Link to comment
beakaboy
still waiting for some parts to arrive for my latest Plaza Japan order. hopefully before golden week holidays. In the meantime I won this set for $100 on our local auction site. brand new. 8 Link to comment

In the meantime I won this set for $100 on our local auction site. brand new. I saw that on TradeMe too! I was kinda tempted but since I use Kato UniTrack, it wouldn't have been any good with my stuff. Meanwhile down here it's second time lucky as I finally landed the 5003-1 Ohani 31 I had been looking for. Plus two bonus pieces of rolling stock; another Suyu 44 postal van (in original box this time!) and a 5127-1 Suhani 32 to give me a head start on August's delivery. In Tokyo, a set of ED75-1000 number plates awaits departure, and fingers crossed that I may have found that elusive ED75-1000 body: a store called Heisando near the Odakyu Kitami station claims it has one in stock. I now await email confirmation that they do have it before asking my friendly contact in Tokyo whether he might be willing to go west and buy the 'shell. If I've learnt anything from that experience, it's that if you're going to do the thing, do it properly and buy the whole locomotive, then you have no excuse for spending so much time hunting when you could be playing! Cat
The extra-slow boat from Japan has arrived. This package from 1999 was shipped a month before the one that arrived here two weeks ago. The bus station kit will be used for a custom auto-body shop in Mito. We're amalgamating two actual businesses, one that does custom work but going into the style of building used down the street by another auto repair business. Our's will specialise in customising Temple Hearses. The Tomix pantograph is too upgrade the last B-Train acquisition from YAJ. Cruising Google street view is the bestest way to seek out prototypes for modelling : 3 3 Link to comment
