Welshbloke
Just leaving it for 24-48hrs will do the trick. Viruses can't remain viable outside the human body for long. I've seen a reasoned argument (as opposed to frothing) that cardboard is even less hospitable to them as it dries them out. Tbh the official advice is still that transmission via packaging is an incredibly low risk. I'm just disposing of wrapping quickly (straight into the recycle bin) and then washing my hands. 2 Link to comment

cteno4
You don’t have to wear gloves, just wash your hands afterwards. Do mind when handling anything potentially contaminated that gloves or not your hands or gloves are contaminated once you touch anything. So then after hands are contaminated things you touch can become contaminated like door handles/knobs and such. all gloves do is protect your skin from harmful stuff. In this case they don’t do a lot of good as the virus won’t infect you thru the skin (unless open lesions). Rubbing your nose with a contaminated finger or contaminated glove finger is exactly the same. In fact your skin is a much more hostile environment for the virus so as soon as on a finger it’s actively getting destroyed, on a glove it’s not getting much of any attack and smooth surfaces are the best survival environment for RNA viruses usually. Good gentle lathering hand washing with WHO technique is great for non clinical situations. all gloves get you is an instant hand wash if your hand were clean when you put on the gloves. People tend to put on gloves and assumed they are protected and then touch their face, clothes and other surfaces you want to keep clean with contaminated gloves not thinking. Use to happen all the time in lab! This is the increased danger using gloves can have in these situations to be aware of. also remember slicker surfaces like tapes and some labels or slickly printed envelopes can take Longer than straight paper or cardboard that are very porus. jeff Link to comment
Cat
What I've been using for mail call is a pair of leather work gloves that also reside in the basement for the once a day use. Gloves and mail remain down there, I come up and wash hands. WIth that, I'm less likely to leave a trail of touched surfaces on the stairs up, etc. Link to comment

Das Steinkopf
The shipping of goods has certainly been impacted heavily with the massive reductions in international air traffic, it took 8 days for DHL to deliver my order from AmiAmi when it normally about 2-3 days. I had preordered some items for March including a Kato E4 Max TOKI for my son as a present after I had sold my LEGO trains as I had already given my daughters $250.00 AUD each. The rest of the order was tracks and the DX platforms that will be used for the JR Tokai based layout that I have been planning for a while, given that I have been temporarily stood down by my company since the government forced our venues to close I will have to occupy myself somehow. 8 Link to comment

railsquid
Still doing my best to keep the economy moving... here's an odd one - a KuMoHa 40 described by the seller as "Tomix", as it has a Tomix chassis, but came in a Kato box with a printed inlay proclaiming it is from "Megami Kourin Models", however the internet is strangely reticent to provide any details. There are references to a "女神降臨模型部" but that seems to be associated with something anime-doll related or whatever. Cat
An HLJ order made it here via FedEx. This is the 4th of those 'Bridge D' kits for us; needed one more segment of the concrete bridge to complete an extended overpass in Katsuta. The pile of wooden ones will get used elsewhere in Mito CIty, after some re-paving and losing the trestles. 2nd of the Pedestrian Deck to complete needs on both sides of Mito Station, plus donating some parts to other projects. deathletter
I got this GreenMax Semu set on a certain auction site. I actually made an offer and the seller did not accept it. I ended up paying less when I bid on the auction and only one other person bid on it at the last second. They did not bid high enough. I have another set just like this one that I got through buyee coming sometime in the future. I am eventually going to have a two axle coal train. 🙃 7 1 Link to comment

I’m also looking to remove some or all of the window mullions in these CNC cut buildings as they don’t look quite Japanese and are a bit too much detail (gets repetitive) for high rises at times. Also hit the ends of the pins with some matched acrylic paint or even a colored pen to not have the big dots. cheers jeff 1 Link to comment
