Sheffie
(Reservation) : Kato 10-1541 Series 787 `Around the Kyushu` Four Car Set — 13,005 yen i liked the look of this. I think it’s modern and neat and elegant, and I’m hoping Kato is bringing their high quality game to this model 1 Link to comment
cteno4
I am always surprised around here when I stop before the tracks when traffic is backed up maybe 1 in 4 times someone behind me will actually lay on the horn wanting me to pull up onto the tracks! One chap last year kept laying on the horn and I was almost at the point of getting out of the car to go back and rearrange his side mirror some... I just don’t get this gap in some folks brains at rail crossings, they can’t be that stupid. jeff 2 Link to comment

It’s a very straightforward case of “do not block intersection” but instead of getting a ticket for breaking the law, your vehicle will be destroyed, and that’s if you get out of it. Link to comment

railsquid
I found out recently that some EF60s were stationed at Hachioji for a short period around 1980, so the quest was on for a suitable model, which turned out to be this: Tomix EF60 (EF60-23) by Rail Squid, on Flickr which is not quite EF60-24 which was apparently stationed there ( see table here) but close enough, I'll have to find out if anyone does replacement plates with the right number. 2 Link to comment

MA has a large collection of unusual and very tempting trains... Any reason why you post the price of your purchases? 1 Link to comment

I’m still not sure whether it’s worth paying that much for rolling stock. So it really depends on the quality of the engineering. As for quoting prices — that’s just me being lazy and cut/pasting the email from Hobby Search. I’ll try to keep the noise down in future. Link to comment

I find the quality on par with the other brands. It’s also a question of taste. I stayed a long time away from Kato as the the rolling-stock I had bought from them in 2010 kept loosing their detailing bits. I always appreciated that I didn’t have to detail MA rolling-stock. Welshbloke
Oddly enough I just ordered another Kato 165 Series. It's an older model so has a different running number to my existing fleet. Will be fitting Shibatas and replacing the missing pantograph on arrival, then it can mix with my other sets (one power, two dummy, two SaHaShis, three SaRos, and a lone dummy MoHa 164 and KuHa). 1 Link to comment

Didn't even get the hint as the CSX engineer blew the horn the whole time and the conductor was screaming at him out the window and the train was slamming on the brakes. Pulled the front end off his car after dragging it 100 feet. He was lucky it wasn't Norfolk Southern because they don't really pay much attention to the speed limits around crossings. Link to comment
