nik_n_dad
A number of things all showed up today. (Ouch on the credit card). Unfortunately nothing Japanese this time around. Kato GS-4 American Freedom Train. This one's been on order for a long time. Kato Kruckenberg SVT. Kato StarTrain 1302 Ahlstrom electric Peter Witt Street cars. Nik (and Mom) got me a couple of these for Christmas in different liveries. An excellent deal from Bachmann: DCC installed and has head\tail lights. Link to comment
angusmclean
HS sent me a Tomix 489 Series 'Hakusan", which appeared on their New listings back in early December as 'slightly damaged'. I left it a couple of days for someone more deserving, but finally took the risk and ordered. Slow delivery over Xmas, but the box and sleeve and the train inside were in absolutely perfect condition. It will look good coupled with two Kato EF63's on hill workings. Angus Link to comment
westfalen
Just pre-ordered the Micro-Ace 15 car Tamu 5000 tank car set from HS for something different. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10137229 All I've got to do now is wait until June. Link to comment
Kamiyacho
Just pre-ordered the Micro-Ace 15 car Tamu 5000 tank car set from HS for something different. I was looking at that one last night! But I am currently thinking that I have a lot of black freight cars and need something to break that up, so I bought the blue Wamu. I wish the brewery Hoki 6600 was coming in a 15 car set. HST.
I'm thinking of ordering the Kato 10-241 485 Raicho, it seems to be good value, but I did notice it's from 2005, though flywheel equiped, so I'm thinking it should be ok. Has anyone got one, is it a smooth runner. I nearly went for the Tomix 489 Noto LTD Edition Set, but I didn't like the way they had painted the stipes on the side of the bonnet in white, and not matching the body colour, only a small thing, but at that price! Dave. Link to comment
disturbman
Then buy the Kato version of the Noto. I saw it in Japan and it's a very nice train. ;) Link to comment
HST.
Thought of that, but HS have only got the Basic 5 Car Set in stock and no Add on Set. Dave. Link to comment
disturbman
I don't know what you are looking for but the Limited Express Nichirin by MicroAce is also quite a good model. :) Link to comment
Claude_Dreyfus
Micro Ace Wamu 8000. 15 cars - looks great. Freight is taking over my layout! I love this set...especially the fact all the wagons are individually numbered. I also like the opening doors, however you need to make sure they are all pulled to before you send them out on their journey...looks a bit odd otherwise, as I found at a recent show! Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
A number of things all showed up today. (Ouch on the credit card). Unfortunately nothing Japanese this time around. Kato GS-4 American Freedom Train. This one's been on order for a long time. I'd be interested to hear how it runs... I have the 4449 morning daylight version of it, and I've been having some issues with it really, doesn't run smooth at all, and is quite noisy... Link to comment
David
Is anyone planning on the Tomix mega set? 34 numbered Wamu 380000 cars and an EF66. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10126720 The pricing is reasonable ($60 loco and $7.50 cars), but the massive quantity makes it hard to purchase. My guestimate puts it at 2.1m (almost 7') long. Those are also probably 34 cars with unblackened pizza cutter wheels. Link to comment

Just added my email address to the waiting list though, just in case... Always did like long freight trains, and if the 2.1 meters are correct, it's still shorter than the ful length M250 :) Link to comment
disturbman
Adding numbering and some other small things to 35 cars... glad I don't have the money or the length to run that one. Link to comment

Kamiyacho
Oh! Where did you find it? I love thise set! It came from Ace of Bicycle. The price seemed a bit high but it was perfect for what I wanted. Now I am trying to think of some things to put in the cars. Is there a prototype for Japanese hobos? Link to comment
sedril
Pre-ordered: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10011243 I'm even tempted to order in some lighting kits, just to make them extra purdy :) ... and more Rapido VIA and CN passenger cars. Link to comment
cteno4
just got a collection of tiny diameter of wires and tubing from amazon.com of all places! nice stuff to do railings and other details with and very inexpensive. was wondering where the order was and looked at the tracking and it said delivered 15 minutes ago, and voila there was the big 6" dia 6' long tube (some were longer lengths). at the front door! dog was sleeping on the job of barking at the UPS truck! jeff Link to comment

First time ive seen an N Japanese Shinkansen, and me and the kids love it, very happy. Just ordered a Kato Mangattan too, for some fun factor in the planned, possible anime inspired Metropolis. Hey, are there any "officially" painted/graffiti Shinkansen out there guys? I fancy maybe one day breaking out the airbrushes. Bests...... A getting very addicted, Lee. Link to comment

I've got the brown set, they are very nice cars and run well, they have a bit more weight in them than most Japanese N scale freight cars. Link to comment
disturbman
Hey, are there any "officially" painted/graffiti Shinkansen out there guys? It's Japan, of course not! The only Shinkansen with some "weird" stuff is a JR Kyushu 800 Series with some Pikachu stickers. If you like painted trains, buy this: http://www.hwjapan.com/sh/ACE0314.aspx Micro Ace Wamu 8000. 15 cars - looks great. Freight is taking over my layout! Oh! Where did you find it? I love thise set! Then I'll wait until they pop again at Popondetta or until I go back to Japan or until they are reissued. Link to comment

Kamiyacho
http://bbs.kakaku.com/bbs/S0000400596/ 100 there + shipping if they ship intl haha At current inter-bank exchange rates that's over $120 - no doubt more at credit card rates. Carpe diem. I could get hit by a bus (or a train) tomorrow; but today I am enjoying my freight cars. Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
Just got the payment request for http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10126727, so that should be arriving in about 4 weeks considering the speed the customs offices at Schiphol work at ;) Link to comment
