Kiha66
I looked it up and it seems CA only charges the tax if the store sells more than 1/2 a million in goods to the state per year, so that explains why I haven't come across it before. Link to comment

railsquid
Will do. Meanwhile, yesterday's Akihabara trawl turned up some yellow junk: junk-purchase-2019-06-21 by Rail Squid, on Flickr 10 Link to comment
bill937ca
Those two lower junk almost look like something that comes out of a vending machine. 1 Link to comment
railsquid
That would be a totally Akihabara thing... a "junk" N gauge vending machine... The two lower ones are (presumably) assembled Greenmax kits in OK-ish condition (apart from various loose parts), they're destined for the Future Projects box. 2 Link to comment

I try and steer clear of non-JR stuff, but as I live within hearing distance of a Seibu line, I like to pick up the odd piece when it's reasonably priced. 1 Link to comment
Chuo
It's not a new motor or cabs or anything but some starting DCC equipment. I was playing around with DCC++ and JMRI but ended up ordering some more goodies that will arrive this week hopefully. For now though... Kiha66
I like the programming track! I need to make a proper one for myself rather than just using whatever module is handy... Link to comment

Welshbloke
One of the shops I visit regularly (Lord and Butler in Cardiff) has a scenic programming track on the counter. It's roughly 1m long with N track on an embankment and OO below next to it. A tunnel mouth, ballast, buffer stops and some greenery finish the job. Thanks to a DPDT switch they can test DC or DCC as well as programming DCC. 1 Link to comment

I didn't have any spare parts and the cost was about equivalent but will definitely look to more DIY as I grow more confident in what I'm doing. 1 Link to comment

Took a piece of shelving and laid a few pieces down with silicone on the ends to keep them from running off. Mounted the programmer and programmer interface box to the board. 2 Link to comment
KiHa 283
Just came back from Japan with a somewhat nice haul (and a much slimmer wallet) after wandering through Akihabara's numerous second hand shops. The units are: - J.R. Series E2 Nagano Shinkansen 'Asama' - Tohoku Shinkansen Series 0 '30th Anniversary' - J.R. Series N700-8000 Sanyo/Kyushu Shinkansen They all run like a charm, but I find the headlights/backlights of the E2-0 extremely disappointing. Edited June 24, 2019 by KiHa 283 10 Link to comment

Sheffie
Well, I’ll be needing some more trees. Let’s get a few more of these because that coniferous forest isn’t dense enough. And more of those because they’re very nice. And more cherries for the orchard hill. And some of those too. Okay. Hmm shipping. EMS... hmm. $200? Okay Link to comment
JR 500系
Time to off load some pictures of what came in through the last one or so weeks... First a small one from Ami... The 100th anniversary logo is pretty nice, and that snow plough truck is simply amazing! (though I need to find some use for it since Takahashi never snows as far as I know...) One from HS featuring more couplers, some fences and a Popondetta light set with charger for the Seven Stars... I really like the charger lights, they really do provide almost flawless non flickering lighting due to its charger abilities which is really good, so good that when you remove the train off its tracks it still remains lighted up (in very dim mode) for a while! Another from Ami... The Gono line and bus is a pick up from Ami's bargain bin, and is it just Ami or do MA all wrapped up their cases with plastic now? It is wrapped so nicely I have yet to open up my E721 series! 7 Link to comment
