Should hopefully get it sometime next week, should be interesting to experiment with.

They even came with passengers, a couple seem to be drunk and have fallen over (well it is Friday evening) but they do even seem to be reasonable quality ones (i.e. not your cheap 100-pack Ebay hoi-polloi in garish clothing).

 

those cheap 100 packs are really quite nice if you dont mind repainting. if you dont like repainting, but the unpainted and paint them, they have nice detail and can look really nice if you put some effort in to them. Its what I do for passengers

Finally caved in and got an E5 "Hayabusa" and an E6 "Komachi" and my lame excuse is that I rode the entire route of the Tohoku / Hokkaido and Akita Shinkansen again courtesy of Nariichi.

Great to find someone that got the latest E5.

 

what do you think of the lights? Could you make a picture? The original E5 had terrible front and rear lights. The white light was one giant blob, and the red ones are invisible. Are the ones on the new release any better?

Is that only the case with the Tomix one? For some reason, the E5 and E6 are two of the few Kato shinkansen I bought, and I never noticed the lights on them being bad.

I have owned both TOMIX and KATO versions. The TOMIX version was inferior in my opinion in pretty much every aspect, especially the lights. The lights on the KATO version are exactly what they should be, and the TOMIX version are really bad in comparison.

I have no reference, I think they're okay.  The red lights are hard to see unless you're looking at it at the right angle.

Thanks for the pictures. It's unchanged, I see. The KATO white lights you can see the actual different lightbulbs, and the red lights you can see from many more angles, not just straight up.

That's quite nice- I was actually eyeing up the same set this weekend- decided to fill in other 100/110 series models though instead.

My wife and kids wanted some Amiibo’s and a Nendoroid from Hobby Search so I took advantage of the situation and picked up some parts for my Otsusen layout, also one can never have too many containers.
