I was doing a bit more research into the Peho current conducting magnetic couplers, and stumbled upon Krois current conducting couplers. Then I noticed Krois also has digitally controlled couplers for N-scale, which is of course interesting for some shunting and for example terminal stations where the locos can decouple and go into service and such. Now, Peho has it's own store, as does Krois, but they charge quite a bit for shipping outside Germany (Peho) and Austria (Krois), but then I found a place in Germany that sells both brands, so I only need to pay crazy shipping once.. Decided to give it a go, so I ordered some 2 and 4 pole current conducting couplers from both Peho and Krois, a digital coupler from Krois, a set of 10 couplers that clip together meant for static consists, as well as a set of tools to install brass cups in the bogies of coaches, to sort of create the power pickup idea that Japanese brands already use. Should hopefully get it sometime next week, should be interesting to experiment with. Can you post links for this stuff in the electrical threads? Link to comment

Gonna need a few more LEDs for that lot. These are definitely on my list once I get my self in gear with a layout. Super easy platform lighting. 1 Link to comment
serotta1972
Finally caved in and got an E5 "Hayabusa" and an E6 "Komachi" and my lame excuse is that I rode the entire route of the Tohoku / Hokkaido and Akita Shinkansen again courtesy of Nariichi. 9 1 Link to comment

Great to find someone that got the latest E5. what do you think of the lights? Could you make a picture? The original E5 had terrible front and rear lights. The white light was one giant blob, and the red ones are invisible. Are the ones on the new release any better? Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
Is that only the case with the Tomix one? For some reason, the E5 and E6 are two of the few Kato shinkansen I bought, and I never noticed the lights on them being bad. Link to comment

The TOMIX version was inferior in my opinion in pretty much every aspect, especially the lights. The lights on the KATO version are exactly what they should be, and the TOMIX version are really bad in comparison. Link to comment

I have no reference, I think they're okay. The red lights are hard to see unless you're looking at it at the right angle. 3 Link to comment

The KATO white lights you can see the actual different lightbulbs, and the red lights you can see from many more angles, not just straight up. Link to comment

Das Steinkopf
My wife and kids wanted some Amiibo’s and a Nendoroid from Hobby Search so I took advantage of the situation and picked up some parts for my Otsusen layout, also one can never have too many containers.
