This was lying around in our local and ghetto BookOff for years. It's an incomplete set, with only the curves and fences included, but that's okay with me. I really didn't want to use the straight rails anyway, as I intend to use these tracks for T-Trak modules. Straight tracks included in this set are S248's, whereas a single T-Trak module consists of an S186 and S124 parts, but of these type of rails S62 don't exist. The curved catenary portals also aren't there, but I personally really don't care about those, as you don't see these around too often anyway. :P

A little long term investment, as this will be enough for four corner modules!

I want more of these double track plates - thinking of ordering another set while they are still available as individual pieces are hard to come by especially the curve pieces.  I miss the days when I can roam around a toy/hobby store and look for stuff.

Unfortunately this one's missing a pantograph which I'm trying to find now.

Some classic (some may say boring) commuter stock, this Kato 101-800 series is headed towards Tokyo Station from an undisclosed location to the west of Tokyo, where its inset pantographs enable it to pass through the small profile tunnels on the Chuo Main Line.

Another coincidence, I picked up a pack of two 186mm straight sections from the same range today. Kato are listing everything apart from the 186mm and 124mm straights as discontinued, I've also ordered a pack of 124mm as I plan to use them as a photo plank.

Looked at those recently, should probably have bought one to go with my ten car Yamanote Line 103 Series. I have one of the Tomytec models of the Chichibu 1001 Series but not an original JNR version.

Thanks for pointing that out. It's good to know these are discontinued, so I can prioritise purchasing these tracks over anything else. It's better safe than sorry to get as many as possible/needed quickly now, before everything is sold out!

Got some tools today from  Widget Supply.  The files are for rounding the edges of my unitrack collection, and the pin vice and drill bit set should help installing the details on my tomix High Grade sets.

Rescued a couple of Tomytec powered chassis from the official highwaymen, I'll try to get some photos of the resulting increase in the Kumoyuni/Kumoni fleet tomorrow. I'm up to four powered and four dummy, with a Kumoya 90 on the way (dispatched at last!) Might have to order the dummmy Kumoya to make a pair for shifting random centre cars around...

This one was the SD40 chassis from forum member Paul.

Thanks Paul!

Found three (very soggy) packages on my doorstep today.  I got some some kato #4 switches to get those pesky unitrack 60L and R pieces I needed to finish the track for my layout.  A big thank you to Eurostar25 who offered to send me some all the way from New Zealand!

The Tōbu virus got me.

IMG_20170118_135751.jpg

I actually wanted to go for a series of Greenmax models, but because Tomytec has released more variations, I decided to go for these models. This version is the first 6050 Series, a rebuilt 6000 Series. These are recognisable by the big Tōbu Minden bogies, but also by the claw-coupling and jumper cable sockets. This was to enable the 6050 Series to run together with old 6000 Series Around 1996~1997 the claw couplers were replaced by automatic couplers, so there was no more need for crew going in between the cars and connecting the jumpers manually.

Because I want to have all trains contemporary, as I also want to have the Tōbu Skytrain, I have to cut and file the jumper cable sockets away and replace the couplers like so: http://loserina.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-21.html Next to that, slightly different antennae are needed and maybe the removal of the stripes on the rear ends of the cars.

P.s. here is the real thing I snapped about a month ago:

These arrived yesterday! attachicon.gifIMG_1190.JPG

Just test run the Kato DD51, unfortunately it does not run nor does the light turn on. Actually nothing happens when it is placed on powered tracks. I don't have experience with fixing this kind of things. Any guesses on what could be wrong? I'm debating whether to return it (got it from Amazon Japan, they claim they will refund up to 2000 JPY on return shipping, I'm not sure if it's enough to cover), or to try to fix it myself.

could be a number of issues. I presume the wheels are clean? possibly has been dismantled and reassembled incorrectly so that brush tabs are not contacting the chassis halves or maybe they have placed the wheelsets in the wrong order or reversed them ,so that the traction tyres are not correct position. some photos with body off as well as underneath shot of chassis might help. It looks very tidy, so I wouldn't think it is major!!

Thanks! I opened it up and discovered it was just a bad connection somewhere. Not sure where but after putting it back together it works now! Relief. :)

Just realized that Tobu has another virus beside the beautiful Tobu 8000 refurbished sets.. how many cars consist of a full set for this 6050 series? only 4 cars?

Mine had the same problem.  It appears that the light/control board has to make contact with the upper clips to get power, and in mine the clips are too loose to maintain contact.  Two tiny paper shims placed under the board seemed to ensure reliable contact for me.
