What did you order or the post deliver? (Japanese N Gauge)

Et voila, the MicroAce 183-1000 (A-0585), in new condition at a very bargain price.

Haha, I just noticed - it was on Yahoo Auctions for 5950 Yen excl. tax, but the case has a Book Off price sticker displaying 15950 Yen, I wonder if someone missed off the leading digit.

5950 yen? Now that's a good bargain!  :)

I don't know if anyone else here dabbles in HOn30 / HOe, but I just received a gorgeous tiny Kato (proto manufacturer) 4-tonner from World Kogei.  I have the greatest respect  and sympathy for those who purchase something like this in kit form.  I'm showing it with a Kato (model manufacturer) ED16 to illustrate the size contrast.

They include parts for a type of link and pin couplers, but the illustration for this is defeating me.  I get the pin part (which is inserted from below - for now I'll assume a friction fit), but don't comprehend the two link parts - one of which apparently doesn't show after being assembled.  Does a translation of the text help explain this?

Sorry the model photo reproduces so poorly.

Hmm. Almost looks like the loop with the legs is inserted from the rear, the legs retaining it in the slots in the buffer. Then you attach chain or a wire link to the loop to couple up to other wagons. Just a guess, narrow gauge equipment in real life had a bizarre assortment of coupling methods.

But what is the connection to the flat piece with the hole for the pin, which they show being inserted from the front?

Their model photo shows only the very end of the loop of the "legged" piece protruding from the front.

If no one here knows, I'll ask HS - I was hoping that translating the text might explain it.

My Koki addiction has been fuelled even more with the latest additions from Modeltrainplus, given I have a decent fleet of 100 series units I thought it was time to expand into the 50000 Series territory. Also included was a JRF Top Lifter and parts to start motorising my fleet of Tomytec Keihan units, a big thanks to Nariichi for organising everything, especially the Top Lifter.

Another addition to the fleet from a collector in Auckland(our largest city) hardly run and a good buy at $45.

Just back from 2 weeks in Australia visiting Brisbane and Sunshine Coast area. Spied this in a shop in Redcliffe. Didn't have time to enquire on Price. Would look great in my lounge. Interesting on how to get back to NZ though!

A bit of a lost loco on the Sanyo mainline, very far from home but it's on its way to the Hitachi plant to donate it's chassis for a forth coming NZ rail project that will run in the local area. It came across via the yahoo auctions boat.

Likewise the tank car is fresh out of the Hitachi builders workshops in Yamaguchi and is destined for the NZ heritage train set under construction.

Slightly bigger build of 1:120 scale but in proportion with NZs Cape gauge.

Following up on kvp's advice/idea on making my own point switches, I found a little cute electronics shop in Machida (Satō Denki) where you can find all sorts of classic electronic components. I'm sure it's not the cheapest spot, but it's nearby and they're extremely friendly.

Anyway, 3300μF 16V capacitors, 3-point ON-ON switches a print board and wires. Just for some basics and testing purposes. Eventually, if it all goes well, I might even make my own PWM controller for shits and giggles. I'd like to have all controls integrated into one board in the end if I go all the way anyway... :P

I received a small package from Hobby Search today, Tomytec's #149 rural station. This is the first model railroad item that I've ordered since "life stuff" forced me to put the hobby on hold last spring.

Not all of this arrived today, some of it you've seen before

It's all of the Tomix track & accessories that I've ordered to date. I've underestimated the amount of room the CC set requires, so at some point I'm probably going to order the bridge beams to convert a CA-S set to overhead track. I'll probably need to order more fences, as I also underestimated them.

Also, I've joined the Hoki & Koki club, somewhere between here and Tokyo is a shipment containing a second set of Hokis and a DD13 to pull them.

Ref. #6007

Well - Daisuke Saito of HS translated the text for me, and the mystery is solved.  I had taken it that all three types of etchings were to be used, but it turns out that two of them are interchangeable, although I still don't have any idea of the basis for making a selection.  Maybe I'll install one of each at opposite ends.

Loathed by many, I really like this train. The Tōbu 50050 Type. Even before I moved to Japan, I had a liking for this sub-version of the Tōbu 50000 Series. Luckily for me, they very frequently run nearby on the Tōkyū Den'entoshi line, so I have the opportunity to ride these as well when I travel on the Tōkyū network.

I found this Greenmax  in almost pristine condition on Yahoo! Auctions this week. It seems not to have been run (if at all), has no missing parts, and stickers are intact. The price has only been a fraction of the original, so I'm very happy with this one! If it had been a dog, I might have considered a repaint, but this is too perfect to be ruined by me. I'm now considering an add-on set as well, although it will only be ran as a 4-car set at home.

Yes, it's a mass-produced aluminium can with overall mediocre merits, but damn do I like it! This model is also more correct than the MicroAce version :)

Its a favorite of mine too. But I went with the B Train Shorty version. Its working its way up to the top of my list.  :)
