What did you order or the post deliver? (Japanese N Gauge)

I'm thinking they only have a few standard sizes and that one seems to be 'small'. It's just irritating when the packaging weighs more than the item...

But it was probably the min Sal anyway of 480 or 520 yen! I've gotten the small box like this with a few more items in it at the min Sal price.

I recently got those NDC/Kiha125 skirts from HS.  6 in total.  Each one is smaller that your pinky nail.  Came in that box for 380 yen.  Cannot complain about the cost at 380 yen.

I just scored a Kato 10-485 883 "Sonic" Yellow for a great price and also the Kato 10-222 E3-1000 Old Tsubasa Color, the one E3 that has eluded me.  Now the waiting game begins and hoping that they are in good condition.  I've been staying away from purchasing trains outside of our trusted vendors but I couldn't passed these up and was willing to take a chance.  :)

Today I got Tetsudou Fan 2011-1 for 100 yen from the local Book Off. I mainly bought it because it has a long article about the KiHa 40 series and an article on car KuHa415-1901, the obscure double deck cab car of which only one was manufactured.

A catalogue on sale, The Hitomono bus, Tomytec Tetsudo Musume tram and the Kiha-25. Aside, I love collecting these Ami postcards that changes every season~

Kiha-25 finally in, it's just like a 313 series minus the pantograph

post-819-0-03343600-1479168823_thumb.jpg

This is something new... There's only one motor chassis, unlike the usual 2 motor chassis... Also, no traction tyres were sighted. I haven't run it yet, but I hope traction isn't an issue here...

Looks like you are spreading your wings a bit into JR Tokai territory. Given the KiHa 25's run as a 2 car set it's probably ample power for it to run.

One power bogie and no rubber wheels.  Interesting indeed.  Probably so you can run it as a paired 4 car set without fiction issues.

What does the one/off switch do?

The Kato E127 2 Car sets and and Series 2000 Aichi Loop Line are also one power bogie and they run just fine and did you notice how light they are.  I kinda wished they were just the same as their 313's.  But did you also notice the difference in the body and door finish, very prototypical as at first I was thinking they were off because I was comparing it to my 313's but they are actually different and especially the door as it's much darker compared to the 313's.

I wanted to get a new train soon, but then I realised I have others to finish. So, today I finally added metal wheels, couplers and a motor unit to one of my Sōtetsu N7000 trains. It's a fictional 4-car formation for my fantasy setting, but it looks good like it is.

I'd like to finish my other old-livery one as well, but the N7000 in the new livery will be prioritised to receive an upgrade. No numbering and destination stickers added yet, but that will come later.

This baby was just delivered. It was labelled as 'junk' because the stickers where missing, which in the end meant that they were actually stuck onto the model in a rather crude way, but apart from that it's in a like-new state. Not bad at all for the price I paid.

I love checking out stuff labeled as "junk" in Japanese model shops.

That way I got a really nice Tomix KRT KiHa 1000 set for just 2000 Yen. Was labeled as 'junk' because the motor supposedly runs bad. The clerk put it on the test track and it ran just great => Instabuy!

Link to comment

The only reasons why this was labelled as 'junk' were that the box isn't in great shape any more and that the stickers were used. It literally said in the advertisement that it runs great and from the pictures I could figure out that there were no visual problems with the model itself either. 5000 yen for this model is a steal.

That said, I have no clue whether it does indeed run great because I have no tracks around.

I love the standards the Japanese set for their 'Used' goods. Perfectly high, and even a small scratch is described.  :)   You'll always expect what you're buying from the descriptions alone without additional surprises.   :)

Many dozens. And not only Tetsudou Fan, but many issues of Rail Magazine and RM Models as well. The newer issues were up to a few hundred yen though, the older were all 100 yen or so. They also had some other train-related used books for acceptable prices.

This was only a local store in a middle-sized town, so who knows what they'll have in the larger cities.

My wife's sister is staying with us for the month and brought with her a Hankyu train from the Kato store Kyoto railway station as well as the Kato catalogue

Any thoughts on if it is part of an extended set or a one off? I don't know too much about the Hankyu models.

Interesting! I didn't know the Kato store actually sell them separately...
