Kiha66
Everyone is going Kyushu, while I'm finally moving north! My order from modeltrainplus finally arrived. My city just closed our main post office and opened a new one elsewhere, so mail has been kinda spoty for the last week. Got a kumoha 42 set from roundhouse (which I think is kato?), kato's new C62, and some oha 35s. 4 Link to comment
Rod.H
The other day a package containing Kato's 10-1228 to go along with the 10-1229 I found locally, turned up. Which now means I'm waiting for Kato to release 10-1281 and I'll have a small slice of the KRT. I'm also regretting not ordering the six pack of interior lights, as I like the look of lit carriages, though I think because they're lit I now need to add some passengers due to empty space becoming noticeable. Now, finding a reasonably priced 16001-3 is my next challenge. Edited October 26, 2016 by Rod.H Link to comment
cteno4
Odd item came, dr yellow combo pencil sharpener and bottle screw cap. Got it for the pencil sharpener, but guess I could use it on plastic bottles I rarely ever use... http://www.ebay.com/itm/PENCIL-SHARPENER-plastic-bottle-screw-cap-fitting-Japanese-Train-model-F-S/252566667656?_trksid=p3693.c100102.m2452&_trkparms=ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140212121249%26meid%3D6226d7010b3b46bfa12a4949edc62367%26pid%3D100102%26 Jeff On more inspection it turns out the pencil shavings drop out the bottom of the cap and into the bottle! Kamome
It's a shame the Kyushu trains are so hard to come by. I haven't seen a Kato 800 series for a long time. I'm just glad they're re-releasing the 813s again so I can have another 3 cars to connect up. Anyway, continuing to collect stuff in Japan that has been difficult to find in the UK. Now completed my Iida line collection with the illusive 10-1288 4 car set. That's the one with the Kumoha 52 with the rounded front. Surprised this was not one of Kato's first Iida releases as it's so distinctive and often comes up in Google if you search Iida Line. Also found the E257-500 Boso Express (10-1282) and decided to invest in a Kato level crossing (20-652) as I've admired these for a while. Hopefully it'll live up to expectation. JR500系 will be happy to learn that I've popped my Bus Cherry finally with a simple Tokyo Hybrid bus. And in keeping with Japanese tradition of cleanliness, Mrs Kamome bought me a Kato Hobby Apron for my birthday. Hopefully no more searching the floor for small parts when they drop off the table. 3 Link to comment

Nice! Welcome to the bus club! Do remember one is never enough! :) By the way, that bus you got isn't exactly a Hybrid... It's a LKG-MP series, heavy-duty 6-speed transmission bus with lower emissions. The actual Hybrid one would be the one listed on the Moving Bus system BM-01: But nevertheless great choice as the Toei bus company is my favorite bus company ~ :) Edited October 27, 2016 by JR 500系 Link to comment

Have my eyes on some Nishitetsu or Kitakyushu buses as these are the ones that run around where Mrs. Kamome is from. Link to comment
Nick_Burman
This wasn't ordered, nor did it arrive through the post. With an impending home move on the cards I took some junk out to my LHS and, after a swap, returned with the latest "okajoki" to join the fleet, an Arnold 2515 Hanomag 0-4-0T. Now I need to carefully mill the buffers and coupler hooks out, then replace them with knuckle couplers. The loco will then join the Tomii Dentetsu steam fleet. Gently puffing across a rice paddy with a string of WaMus and a coach in tow she would easily look as if she had come out of a picture from a Charles Small book... P.S.: before I'm asked...the plate in the back was picked up a few days ago at a friend who was doing a cleanup of his collection. It is off a British-built, broad-gauge (5'3") railcar which once ran on the Sao Paulo Railway. The vehicle is supposed to be "preserved" but in fact it has been mouldering in several sidings ever since I first saw it as a young lad - and that was 30+ years ago! Cheers NB 4 Link to comment
Fenway Park
My package from Model Train Plus arrived today containing Tomix wagons. Interesting that on the YO 5000 that Tomix now supply blanking plates to hide the copper coils for the lighting. They were not available for the earlier release of the YO 3500 but then I am not sure whether these additions are prototypical or whether Tomix are trying to hide their lighting. Link to comment
Das Steinkopf
Oh well it looks like I am sliding down that slippery slope of becoming a Tomytec Tragic but I suppose that's going to happen if your into the Otsusen, got my order from Yahoo auctions a Keihan 600 Series in Express Livery, I was also after an 80 Series with air conditioner but they proved not only being rather elusive but also rather expensive. Rod.H
These turned up today: Oddly, I'm prefering Kato and Tomytec buildings over Tomix. Edited October 31, 2016 by Rod.H 3 Link to comment
railsquid
The Tomix buildings are often very old designs from the late 70s and/or early 80s. But cheap and good for kitbashing. Edited October 31, 2016 by railsquid Link to comment
bill937ca
Small box from Hobby Search with a Tomytec Kotoden Retro train with TM-29 power unit. A 15m interurban that ran in regular service until about 10 years ago. It now operates about monthly in special service. Shipped on Friday at my door Monday morning. serotta1972
Just received 2 new Kiha's - Tomix Kiha 183 and Kato Kiha 25, venturing into Hokkaido Territory and expanding my JR Central Fleet. And finally pulled the trigger on the Kato E6 inspired by Eurostar's photo. I love the colors and growing to like the shape more and more. 11 Link to comment
Eurostar25
Picked up the M250 add on set off yahoo, missed out on the 4 car basic set as the auction closed at 3am... So the hunt is on for the basic set again! 6 Link to comment

ToniBabelony
Today I felt good, had a few yen left and the weather was nice (I'm one of those weird people who likes cold grey skies). Got much needed C280-15 and C541-15 curves, as well as some ballast for my little test diorama. I compared the Tomix ballast with the Kato ballast and decided to go for Kato, as it's finer in grain size. Tomix's ballast just look like boulders instead of little crushed rocks... I also really really dig the new Tomix track packages. Double the contents, plus less space and materials used. Easier to open and in general just a big 'yes'! The new plastic for the tracks however is a bit light, but that matches the new line of wide tracks. If you weather the tracks it all fades anyway, so I'm not really complaining :P 6 Link to comment
JR 500系
So nice to be staying in the land of trains... just hop on over to your favorite store anytime to take a look, run some trains, and grab some stuff whenever you have free time... :P Then again, it is like living in the land of temptation and could get pretty bad if your wallet isn't big enough.... Darn... I just made another crazy mistake... ordering this: Suddenly found this while browsing around and blame it for being Too sweet to pass ... Which in turn made the whole 'Tram' thing go berserks... went about ordering tram tracks and tomytec trams.. I'm not sure if I am too stressed up these days and retail therapy is working, or that I am getting weak in the areas of perseverance in not trying to start on something new.... It's really really bad when you're low on cash and high on inspiration, like now. I've been seriously sluggish with my work lately, so my income was ridiculously low (could have been the sunny weather). After more than a year of lag, just this week I regained my inspiration and drive, so I expect to be able to purchase some more expensive things in a month or two. Some things like a pair more curved points and some enhancement parts for my Tomytec trains (wheels and a few motor units), as well as introduce the little prince of the house to PlaRail tracks in December. 3 Link to comment
Suica
Keeping up the foreign theme, 6 axles of solid Fleischmann Made-in-Germany reliablity for a song via Yahoo Auctions - it could be anything between 20 and 40 years old, though I suspect 20~25. Fleischmann BR 151 by Rail Squid, on Flickr This model was made between 1975 and 1989. They changed the pantograph after that. Old Fleischmanns are amazing. Well, I guess new ones are quite good as well. :P 1 Link to comment
