Guest keio6000
Two things ordered that I could not get from my usual supplier... 1. Tetsudou Collection 6-car ginza line 2000 series set. this is a very important train that might still be done by microace or kato, but anyway, i got a nice set consisting of 3 x 2-car sets, a motor unit, and a sufficient number of the trailer car sets (which unfortunately dont contain close coupling... grrr!!!). of course, the instant these went into service their roofs became dirty, so it's a little odd seeing them 'clean' as in the tetsudou collectionv version, but it will do. nariichi san at model train plus still has 2 in stock at actually a very reasonable price if you are interested. 2. Tetsudou collection 3-car Fujikyu 6000 (205-series) set modified with kato lights and motor, tomix pantos, tn couplers, etc. Internally this train is one of the best conversions in japan. Fujikyu continues to be an absolute joy for the railroad enthusiast. The exterior look of these is acutally also surprisingly nice, although 'busy.' excellent BVE videos are available that feature both trains: Edited September 20, 2016 by keio6000 3 Link to comment

JR 500系
Wow that modified Fujikyu is really a good catch man! I wanted to get that train but it was all sold out when I got to it.... Link to comment
railsquid
Another purchase which has been languishing in the remote cubby holes of my addiction... A 4-car Keikyu 1500 series (I think), a painted and assembled Greenmax kit from the junk box at a Hobbyland Pochi for a couple of thousand yen. Parts of the paint job are a bit iffy (the lower part of the side walls seems to have bubbled up in places) but looks OK from a distance. Olde-style Greenmax motor, not the quietest. greenmax-keikyu-1500-series by Rail Squid, on Flickr Link to comment

Ken Ford
My Masterpiece Z pans finally showed up two years after I first ordered them! One will be used for my ARU Nine Randen work motor. I grabbed three packages of them. 1 Link to comment
katoftw
So I finally received my Kiha 140+47 Isaburo-Shinpei only 935 days after I first ordered it. haha 3 Link to comment
Suica
Today it's only a little Kato DF200. I think I should buy some more freight cars some time soon. 3 Link to comment
cteno4
Some bootie from a club member moving overseas. Resistance was futile... Some good bits for kitbashing. Cheers Jeff Edited September 25, 2016 by cteno4 3 Link to comment
beakaboy
nice haul Jeff. I love those choppers. would be good to get an Iroquois model as the NZ military had quite a few up till recently. I missed out on a ride in one when I was in Army Cadets at school. They flew one in to our tent camp near Christchurch, but due to high winds, etc, they decided it wasn't safe to give us rides. I had another Bandai motor chassis arrive for my Keisei units and also a shell for my Tomytec TM-LRT01 chassis. I also tried a Tomytec TM-ED02 to see if it would be suitable for a New Zealand TT scale loco from Shapeways. Bit short unfortunately. Very good prices from AmiAmi 2 Link to comment
Eurostar25
Liking the DSC beakaboy, bit of a shame about the chassis. I really want a KA but there's no Japanese loco with the equivalent chassis to suit sadly Link to comment
utrainia
Could always extend the chassis, the tomytec ones are very hackable. Quite simple to make a new base out of styrene to the correct wheelbase and then extend the drive shaft. An afternoons work with some styrene. Otherwise the 15m chassis might work. Link to comment
beakaboy
thanks Eurostar and Utrainia. I might have a go at extending the chassis. The chassis is too wide for the body anyway, even after taking weights off. I like the idea of the larger wheels on this chassis. I fitted a new DD13 chassis in and it fits perfectly, but wheels and bogies are too small. A couple of guys in NZ120 forum have built their own bodies for a KA and one has used a GS4 American steamer as a chassis. The other has used a new Bachmann Norfolk and Western J steamer with loksound fitted. Its incredible. 1 Link to comment
Suica
My JR Series 189 Upgrade Azusa arrived yesterday. I saw this train on a Fuji service during my last day in Japan. Unfortunately I couldn't ride it. And today I picked up a Fleischmann DB Class 610 Pendolino at my local model train market. Not the newest model but it still looks and runs nicely. And I love the tilting mechanism. 4 Link to comment

cteno4
I got the jasdf osprey, couldn't pass it up! Over the years I've collected most all the Japanese choppers from the series. Chopper ride would have been fun! I've only ever got to do one quick supply run in Alaska on once, but was fun. Ex military, old salt pilot who flew like a bird! Jeff 1 Link to comment

Jeff I did get a ride in a friends tiny Robinson chopper around 15yrs or so ago. Left his orchard on other side of our town and flew over our orchard where I got a video from above. It was amazing to see him pull the chopper out of its shed on a sled and get it all set up. Our 3 young boys also got a short flight as well. We used to get our avocados sprayed by helicopter years ago and the pilot was best I have ever seen.(He had severe scarring to his face, from being burnt in a light plane crash years before) He would zoom down just below our shelter hedges and climb and bank steeply while turning for another run.Our house is right next to a hedge and one of the avocado blocks and you could not see the chopper. Must have been almost touching the tops of avos. None of the other pilots ever got as close! Edited September 25, 2016 by beakaboy 1 Link to comment
cteno4
I've worked and vacationed a lot in Alaska over the years and way too many bush pilot plane flights that made me give up cringing all together! I think they liked to see if you were a novice or had been out trimming the trees before! It got to be fun and I figured it would be better to go that way than on a stupid freeway (at least a better story for friends to tell)! Saddly one of the pilots I knew did not make it over the years, it's a risky business. Jeff Link to comment
