Ken Ford
Did you get someone else to convert it for you? Yes - from Biban Model Works. I have several of these as is but wanted to see first hand what they did to convert them. Just got my tracking number, it shouldn't be long now! I'm trying to find some Micro Trains Z flex and want to see if it's practical to replace the track on one of the Kato through truss bridges with Z. Edited August 19, 2016 by Ken Ford Link to comment
railsquid
The sum total of this year's JAM haul (at least the bit with actual wheels): tomix-kiha-10 by Rail Squid, on Flickr I know it's boring and not decorated with cartoon school girls or fluorescent anime decals but I've been after one of these for a while and they seem to be out of production. Unfortunately a scheduling conflict with a non-railway acquaintance meant I could only spend a couple of hours, otherwise I might have picked up one or two more things. 6 Link to comment

I personally find the "boring" liveried equipment to be much more interesting than some of the more radically decorated items! 2 Link to comment
Ken Ford
Just ordered both numbers of the Kato Eiden 900s from eBay sellers. Link to comment

IST
A long waited and world traveler package arrived today. I ordered it at the end of June and I got an e-mail from Hobby Search on 8th of August, that the pack arrived back to Japan, so what should they do. I asked them to post it again to Budapest, as I did not get any notice from the local post office about it. So they sent it again without any extra cost although I told them that I will pay it again. I really appreciate this kind of customer service (and they mentioned next time I have to pay it). Not a huge buying, but it feels great to have another model package from Japan. :) 2 Link to comment

cteno4
Ha you got the best ebay dental, nail, and makeup bits! They are smashing and soooo inexpensive! Always feel funny cruising ebay for makeup, dental and nail stuff, but things keep popping up. These guys applicators are so much better than swabs to clean stuff like motors, gears, etc. http://www.ebay.com/itm/50Pcs-Disposable-Makeup-Lip-Brush-Lipstick-Gloss-Wands-Applicator-Make-Up-Tool-/391459487800?var=&hash=item5b24cdc038:m:mQcSI7o3XifqC7Ojb6NHC6Q And http://www.ebay.com/itm/50Pcs-single-use-Makeup-Tool-Cosmetic-Eyeliner-Liquid-Wand-Applicator-Brush-/112090016057?hash=item1a1915e939:g:c5cAAOSwBnVW9KNg Jeff Link to comment
Ken Ford
The orange Kato Eiden 900 arrived yesterday, and some Tomix tram track today. The Kurama station kit should be here tomorrow, and the red 900 should be here in the next week or so. Edited August 26, 2016 by Ken Ford 5 Link to comment
railsquid
Not exactly a recent delivery, but a while back I acquire this Kato TGV for about 6,000 yen: kato-s14701-tgv by Rail Squid, on Flickr Have only just got around to giving it a decent run, I think it's from the 1980s but apart from the non-LED lighting it looks like it just came off a production line. It was sold as a poor runner, a condition which was resolved by scraping the grime off the wheels, but runs as pretty much as well as my 2-year old 0-series Shinkansen. kato-s14701-tgv-powercar by Rail Squid, on Flickr 10 Link to comment
serotta1972
Is that a new Limited Express for JR Central? I'm a little obsessed with orange. :) 1 Link to comment
railsquid
I assume the "T" stands for Tokai, not sure about the GV bit - "Gundam Vehicle"? ;) 2 Link to comment
ToniBabelony
Just do it like the totally legit naming Odakyū does with their Ltd. Expresses: Tōkai Grand Vault (as with VSE stands for Vault Super Express). It could totally fit between the classic orange/grey liveries of the early Romance Cars: Edit: come to think of it, it would make for a great through service from Shinjuku to Shizuoka and Nagoya via the Gotemba line! Ken Ford
I have a lot of stuff that's expected for several different projects, but yesterday two Sankei kits arrived: 1. The Eiden Kurama station that I tracked down; and 2. A little building that looks like a distinctive trackside structure on the Randen Kitano branch just outside Ryōanji station: 2 Link to comment
Kiha66
Happy Birthday to me! I ordered a Kato Keihin Tohoku line E233 10 car set. Now if only I could find a Matsuura Railway MR-600, I'd have a model of every Japanese train I've ridden so far. 5 Link to comment
JR 500系
Seems pretty quiet for me lately, but there are a few small items that came in: Some 1/144 helicopters They come with a soft candy and some assembly... This will look good parked on top of a Police building Keihan special bus box set Looks nice! A cement truck to add some variety to the truck fleet Misc stuff, including some torri gates and stairs... And a box from Ami: New summer post card Not much stuff... A really nice painted Tomytec train... Local bus trip number 4... And more All Island bus numbers JB33, 34, 35 and 36 to add onto the collection... 2 Link to comment

Kiha66
Woho! My E233 series arrived today! I was a little bummed that the trucks on the motor car were loose out of the box, but they easily snapped into place. It runs beautifully, I'll try to post a video later. I also received a book from amazon .jp, It's an incredibly detailed layout build guide. Now I only need to learn Japanese! 4 Link to comment

Gotta catch them all! The E233's are dangerous. I've been eyeballing an Odakyū 4000 Series (just a 4-car basic version), since I do have a Sōtetsu 11000 Series, which is basically an E233.. I think I might be infected... :( Link to comment
Drunkenclam
Can't quite work out the heights on that pictured track plan. Looks like that passing loop at the top would gave to be elevated. But the book looks great Link to comment

But the book looks great Yep, the layout is a folded dogbone with one end looped over the other. Welcome to the poison of the E233s! They look brilliant and would make you wanna get every one of them in the series! Gotta catch them all! I'm a little worried, they all look so good! Its the reason I've avoided getting any of the 115 series, but I fear I may fall into that trap soon too. In other news (also related to poor purchasing habits), I acquired a used 16 car Series 0 Shinkansen set. It was cheep and local, but I mostly blame Railsquid for posting such excellent pictures for the purchasing inspiration. Also got a kato V2 for a steal, I kinda needed the extra track to run the series 0 and my 700 series without it looking like a dog chasing it's tail. 1 Link to comment
