Sacto1985
YouTube member ato5kgyassetaito filmed this zenmen tenbou video of a trip on the JR East Ban'etsu East Line from Koriyama to Iwaki Stations from a KiHa 110 DMU trainset: Note that there is relatively little passenger service on this line, since most people travel between Koriyama and Iwaki on the Ban'etsu Expressway, which somewhat parallels this line, by automobile or bus service. (NOTE: This line is often described by another name, the Yūyū Abukuma Line (ゆうゆうあぶくまライン), because line closely follows the Abukuma River nearby.) Edited April 6, 2015 by Sacto1985 1 Link to comment

Sacto1985
cant wait to ride this. sadly, I'll miss the SL by a week. Isn't that the SL that runs on the Ban'etsu West Line from Niigata, which has JNR Class C57 180 as the locomotive? Link to comment
JR 500系
Ban'etsu Line? Is it the Ban'etsu Monogatari? Also, I think the 455 series Akabae colour (Red cow on a white background) Ban'etsu line train is also running here? Link to comment
Sacto1985
Isn't the Ban'etsu Monogatari perhaps the longest run of any SL excursion train in Japan? It's a long way from Niigata to Aizu-Wakamatsu Stations. I for one would love to see regular SL excursions between Koriyama and Iwaki Stations on the Ban'etsu East Line. Given the large number of JNR Class D51's preserved around Japan, maybe we should take one of them, restore it to operational service, and run it on this line? Link to comment

You're correct, I'll be in both areas at the same time, east and west lines. I tend to glomp them both together. Link to comment
