Hokuetsu Express "Snow Rabbit" Rapid, Echigo-Yuzawa to Arai via Naoetsu

YouTube member OleOleSaggy filmed this impressive zenmen tenbou video of the Hokuetsu Express Snow Rabbit "Rapid" train from Echigo-Yuzawa to Arai via Naoetsu, with most of the trip on the Hoku Hoku Line:

 

 

Note the very high speed of the HK100 EMU when running on the Hoku Hoku Line, probably over 130 km/h (81 mph) at times. Note the number of long tunnels in this line, too. Near the end of the trip, train stops at the new Jōetsumyōkō Station, which is a stop on the newly-opened Hokuriku Shinkansen line. From this station, the Shirayaki limited express using the E653 EMU takes you directly to Niigata.
