Sacto1985
I found this very interesting full-length front video video of a most unusual tramway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOJz_aeN9bA This is the Trieste-Opicina Tramway, a tram that travels from the northern part of the center of the city of Trieste in Italy to the small town of Villa Opicina up a steep hill. What's very unusual about this tramway is that in part of its travels, it becomes a funicular railway, where the tram goes up and down the hill resting against a remote-controlled funicular tractor car. I wonder why are they still doing it this way, especially with the Swiss experience with modern rack railway EMU's operating on some pretty steep lines. 3 Link to comment

This is the most simple way to keep all the old cars running. They have two of the first 2 axle trams too in running condition. Since this is a tourist railway, keeping it special is important.
