NB1231
Hello I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or owned any parts for the Kato Odakyu HiSe 10000 Type set. As many of you know I'm sure, this set is discontinued so I'm having a hard time finding where I could get some parts for it. I need one of the coupling attachments for car 10010 and 10011, and a pantograph replacement. Any help is appreciated!!! Thanks!! Nate Link to comment
katoftw
Kato would be your best bet considering the age of the model. Link to comment
cteno4
Nate, You might try Nariichi san at Modeltrainplus (http://www.modeltrainplus.net) or Dave San at loco1hobby (http://www.loco1hobby.net/en/) to see if they can help. Both are great shops in Japan that may be able to source the parts for you. Unfortunately kato japan won't do direct request from the U.S., you have to go thru Kato usa to try to get parts and it can take a long time if they do have it that way. Kato us a usually asks you to fax them the instruction sheet for the model with the part numbers circled that you want. Best of luck with this Jeff Link to comment
NB1231
Thank you, I looked on both sites and turned up empty handed...sigh the trials and tribulations on discontinued products. I will give kato USA a call and fax, I highly doubt they'd have anything for it. Nate Link to comment
cteno4
Nate, Email them with the specifics as they don't stock a huge range of parts but may be able to source it for you. Nariichi does personal shopping for a small fee and might also be able to find stuff in other hobby shops in Japan. Jeff Link to comment
HantuBlauLOL
IMHO some old Kato train's sparepart are almost impossible to find.. I've spent a month searching and asking in the internet to find a SD70MAC silver trucks and still no luck yet.. Link to comment
NB1231
Thanks I will contact and be specific as possible. The set is really old and I think I need to look at the power car and clean the wheels.... Previous owner was not nice to this set... it's still in decent shape. It's also missing the foam insert too.... sigh.. Link to comment

gerryo
I managed to get Pantographs for my Odakyu 10000 from Nariichi at modeltrainsplus. My Odakyu is made by Tomix, however. But he supplied within a week. Best give him a try. gerryo Link to comment

cteno4
Nate, Nariichi does the personal shopping for odd bits like this and you never know what might turn up in a shops he visits. There are also the bargain bins at some shops witp odd cars from damaged sets and might be a way to find a donor car for parts as well. Of course it could be extra cost and time than usual to find something this odd, but worth talking to him. Does feel good when you resurrect an old train like this! Jeff Link to comment

I think it will be easier to replace the car with the missing coupling piece than to find a coupling piece itself. I appreciate all of the help! Link to comment
katoftw
With as many issues and age of this said model has. Maybe acquiring a second consist might be prudent to allow of many spare parts. Link to comment

Also, I've looked everywhere and nobody has this set for sale, not even ebay as far as I've seen. So acquiring a new set is just as difficult to come by. Link to comment

Atomsk
There's a single HiSE car for sale on Yahoo, for under 900 yen. If this is the right model, you might get your parts from it. Buyee has it at http://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/n141550473 Link to comment
