bikkuri bahn
The town of Tsubata, in Ishikawa Prefecture, opened a park on Wednesday that has an observation point where visitors can watch Hokuriku Shinkansen trains pass by. The park is simply named "The hilltop park where you can see the shinkansen" https://youtube.com/watch?v=7YhMQmklQuU Edited March 5, 2015 by bikkuri bahn 4 Link to comment
miyakoji
They have a webpage for it, and it's already on Google maps. Even the line itself isn't on the map yet! http://www.town.tsubata.ishikawa.jp/soshiki/toshikensetsu/oshirase_shinkan.html https://goo.gl/maps/AEAhY Link to comment
kvp
Local marketing at full speed. :) This looks like a low cost project, that required a plot of unused local government land, some concrete, wood for the picknik tables and lots of fencing to keep railfans from rolling off the hill. (especially the adult ones) Otherwise the spot itself is not that scenic and they didn't include any shinkansen themed objects, like a shinkansen shaped sandbox for the kids. The webpage is part of the website for the local town, so it was free. (i assume the opening event was the highest cost) The news did get out of Japan, so it's kind of worked. cteno4
Fun! Nice to see pride in the rr like this. Like the name. Once popular I can see the added shinkansen stuff coming. Jeff Link to comment
