miyakoji
This Tetsudou Fan news item mentions the 川越貨物線, the Kawagoe Freight Line. A search on this turns up nothing. Is this an error? I don't see any obviously separate tracks on aerial maps, either. Infrequently used connector/bypass lines are a major interest of mine, what's this all about? :) http://railf.jp/news/2015/02/28/170000.html Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
It's an infrequently used bypass route between Omiya Station and the section of the Kawagoe Line before Nisshin Station. Before the Kawagoe Line was electrified and undergrounded, diesel trains on the Kawagoe Line used platform 12 at Omiya Station. This track was kept in place after trains were shifted to the underground platforms. Edited February 28, 2015 by bikkuri bahn Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
While we're on the topic of the Kawagoe Line, some vintage footage back when 9600 types were hauling freights on the line: 1 Link to comment
