katoftw
I'm keen on purchasing a Kato C56 as I want to make it the SL Kita-Biwako. But it doesn't some with a C56-160 number plate. But it does come up with a few number plates that could be cut up to form a C56-160 number plate. Anyone done something similar? Not worth the effort? Thanks. Ken Ford
It might be easier to have new number plates etched. I've heard there are specialist companies in the UK that do this. Link to comment
marknewton
Assuming you're talking about the N scale model I think it might be very difficult to do a neat job of cutting up the number plates. As Ken mentioned there are a number of companies that can custom etch plates. One that I have used in the past is Narrow Planet: narrowplanet.co.uk There's also a company here in Australia who offer a similar service. I can't think of their name offhand so I'll post a link later when I get home and check. If you need the proper JNR fonts I can post them as well, or help you produce the artwork. All the best, Mark 1 Link to comment
westfalen
The numbers that come with the current Kato C56 are locos that were based on the Koumi Line. I believe one of the numbers you get is 150, have you thought of altering the '5' to a '6' somehow? Link to comment
