I've never had anybody complain when I've posted a message to a group page about a new Flickr group; I imagine a forum (of interest) would be the same. As long as you aren't selling something, I wouldn't worry about it.

Well, if you're a member and can post a plug without it being spam, it would be a great way to try and get some more members. Growing the board and active membership is sorta my bag, so anything that could kick up the activity is all good IMO.
