Sacto1985
YouTube member norimonoGO2 filmed two zenmen tenbou video of trips on the Kosei Line and Hokuriku Main LIne between Omiimazu and Kanazawa Stations on all-stop local (futsu) services, using a 521 Series EMU: Omiimazu (Kosei Line) to Fukui: Kanazawa to Fukui: The trips required the use of a 521 Series EMU, since on the Hokuriku Main Line east of Tsuruga, the overhead power switches from 1500 V DC to 20,000 V AC. Note on the trip from Kanazawa to Fukui, you can see on the left the completed Hokuriku Shinkansen viaduct, where this part of the line leads to the Hakusan General Rolling Stock depot west of Kanazawa (this part of the line will be operational when it is extended initially to Fukui several years from now). You can see that depot on the Kanazawa-Fukui video on the left side from 13:50 to 15:05 running time. On the trip from Omiimazu to Fukui, east of Tsuruga the train goes through the Hokuriku Tunnel, the longest tunnel designed specifically for zairaisen trains in Japan (note that the Seikan Tunnel was recently upgraded to accommodate Shinkansen trains).
