katoftw
Can anyone tell me the difference between these varients? There is:- Tokaido-Ueno Tokyo Line varient Tokaido/Shonan-Shinjuku varient Takasaki/Utsunomiya Line varient They all look the same to me. Both come in the same full 15 car configuations. The double deckers are cars 4 and 5. Some are sold as 8 + 2 + 5 car sets, and some are sold as 4 + 4 + 5 car set by Kato. But how do these relate to real life revenue running train sets? Ewan.in.gz
As far as I can tell, the differences between the 3 different E233-3000 sets that Kato produces are destination signs. I just bought the Takasaki/Utsunomiya Line set, and the cars and color schemes are exactly the same ones as in the other two versions, but the set numbers are different. It seems that in real life, the designs are the same, just that JR East has dedicated sets for services north of Tokyo Station and services south. Sets based at Kozu Depot for Tokaido /line services south of Tokyo Station carry E prefix set numbers. Sets based at Takasaki for Takasaki Line and Utsunomiya Line services north of Tokyo Station carry L prefix set numbers. Link to comment
