stevenh
To all, Will be in France in January next year and am hoping to see this train in action. From what I've read, it's to be superseded next year by another freight service, but in January it should still be running? I've been able to find a few references to its timetable, but they're all seemingly quite old. I've been gathering information so far here: http://modelrail.otenko.com/international/france-tgv-la-poste I'm curious: Has anyone seen this train? Is it still running? Does it run to schedule? Are there any sites I've missed with timetable data? Any more recent? All help is greatly appreciated! Edited November 23, 2014 by stevenh Link to comment
Densha
I think you're better off posting this on a French rail forum... I doubt many here will know about this to be honest. Link to comment
Matteo_IT
If you patience I can ask to a french collegue... I've seen it last friday in Paris, in a depot between gatre de Lyon and gare de Bercy. Link to comment
stevenh
Matteo_IT, any information would be greatly appreciated. I've seen photos of that location and I will definitely check that out as a final option. Link to comment
Zaft
Hello stevenh Thank you to remind me that this service will end next year. Here is what I found : http://forum.e-train.fr/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=47537&start=390 pour le projet SA2015 j'ai les projets définitifs:6997 PLY PP 19h46 - CVN 23h136996 CVN 3h48 - PLY PP 7h436991 PLY PP 20h03 - MAC 21h446990 MAC 23h06 - PLY PP 1h336993 PLY PP 22h50 - MAC 0h326992 MAC 5h29 - PLY PP 7h33 It seems that it's the definitive time table for 2015 (SA2015 => 2015 Annual Service) 699x is the train number PLY PP=>Paris Gare de Lyon Parc Postal (not the passengers station) MAC => Macon Ville (probably Macon Ville Parc Postal which is not Macon Ville passengers train station) CVN => Cavaillon I think that the trains run only weeks days. Hope it help you, but it will be dark in January. Link to comment
stevenh
Zaft, thank you a lot. This still indicates that the train will pass Maisons-Alfort around 7-8am on weekdays. (6996,6992) I hope to wait around Alfortville on a Thursday to see the train pass, hopefully two of them! If not, there should at least be some TGV services. I wonder what time sunrise will be.... aaaaaaahhhh crap! http://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/france/paris Steven. Link to comment

bikkuri bahn
Adieu TGV La Poste: AFTER 31 years of service, the operation of mail trains on the French high-speed network ceased on June 27, when a postal TGV made a final run between the terminals at Cavaillon in Marseilles and Charolais near Paris Gare du Lyon. http://www.railjournal.com/index.php/freight/last-post-for-french-high-speed-freight-as-postal-tgvs-bow-out.html?channel=523 Link to comment
cteno4
Ah a half tgv train for sale for your garden railway! Jeff Link to comment
stevenh
Glad I got to see it, even if under the cover of darkness... Meanwhile... should we start a high-speed freight operation? La Poste is now seeking a potential buyer for the redundant fleet of five half TGV sets. Link to comment
kvp
The french post will have a problem selling those other than spare parts for the old passenger fleet as there are very few lines where the sets could run and they were designed for manual loading, which is not really optimal. Link to comment
Densha
They'll just have to start a new cheaper TGV service with these: TGV Pas Cher: le nouveau TGV sans fenêtres 1 Link to comment
