choco.miruku
Hello from Singapore ! I recently rediscovered this hobby and have been in love with Japanese trains ever since. I used to collect HO German trains, but due to space and cost, i decided to drop it. But then i found out about Japanese N gauge and loving it ! Link to comment
ozman2009
Welcome to this forum, from another recent arrival. In my case, it's Japanese Z scale. Link to comment

changkh
Hello, am from Singapore too. Just started train modelling recently too. If you do purchase from Japan, maybe we can share shipping next time. 1 Link to comment

JR 500系
Welcome changkh! Fellow Sillyporean here! Cheers! It's fun here as we understand in Sillypore almost no one cares much about trains... Glad to see more company here! I think we should hold a get together soon for all Japan Rail fans in Singapore! Perhaps we can have our own train show one day! :) Link to comment
cteno4
Hey it's great to see the first nucleation of another group around the world! Keep on it jr500! Even if it's just a lunch, it's a start. Then maybe play trains for a day, then who knows what! As soon as you have a few folks getting together then try some posts to tangential boards/lists/forums in Singapore to see if you can troll a few more folks in lurking in the corners! Go for it! changkh
i remember there used to be few shops specializing in train models in Singapore in the past. there was one in liang court, one in orchard specialist shopping center and one in the old DFS meridian hotel/shopping mall. but now they are all gone, even the most recent one in adelphi shopping center. i only know katong still has one hobby shop that sells train but have not visited them yet. doubt they stock KATO products and even if they did, would be more expensive than if i were to buy from amazon japan online and ship here. recently, i saw a youtube video posted by official tomy takara plarail channel shot in singapore. are they going to bring in to singapore? but these are for kids though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEe-lK1WZyA Link to comment
JR 500系
Hi changkh! Yap all shops were closed down now. Model railway just doesn't seem too appeal to people here... The latest one at Adelphi doesn't have Japanese rolling stock, and they mainly have OO scale or HO scale, very little N scale. Plarail? It is another story; they're everywhere here! Best yet, they often go on discount as people here don't know their real value and fun... The 885 'Around the Kyushu' Kamome in the video is already released, I think the best bet is to find them at either Isetan or Takashimaya. Toys'R'Us also have quite a range of plarail sets, but they're not on discount though... There's a shop called Sakuraya, there's one in West Coast Plaza, that actually sells Tomytec stuff. No trains, but their Tomytec are authentic stuff and even sometimes they have Kato and Tomix buildings, but never train sets nor tracks. I saw some B-Shorty too, and the Tomytec moving bus system, but that's about all and the price is heavily inflated, more than online and shipping over... Shouldn't we open a club or so to try to bring in model rail-roading in Singapore? :) Link to comment
changkh
what i read was the aldephi shop stopped selling trains because it was not profitable. can't remember what they are selling now. i don't visit toys section much but i suppose they are sold here. was just curious why takara tomy make a video of plarail in singapore. really?!! cause i just stay next to west coast plaza. know they have a small shop/office in the 3rd level selling toys but didn't know they stock KATO buildings. will definitely check it out. maybe you can consider a train cafe like those in japan. Readymade
Hi from Singapore too :) Am new to model trains, and would like to learn more about Plarail. That's how I found this forum actually. 1 Link to comment
JR 500系
Welcome! Good to see an increasing amount of fellow Singaporeans! We're lucky in Singapore cause Plarail is pretty cheap here as compared with other countries, but of course not Japan as they still have the largest range. What kind of Plarail are you looking at, normal or advance? Link to comment
cteno4
Readymade, Welcome to the forum! Fun to see more Singaporians here as well as plarail interest. Cheers Jeff Link to comment
Readymade
Thanks :) To be frank, am in this really for the fun factor :D So I'm interested in the normal ones, so my kid can play with them too. Advance models seem too small. Am also more keen on steam and vintage diesel (if any?) models. Edited December 28, 2014 by Readymade Link to comment

Just we all have different products that create the fun! Important thing is to find the item that creates the fun and go for it and not let others try to tell you what should be fun for you! Will be a great thing to play with the kid and make sure to keep your inner kid healthy as well. Who knows where it will go from there, but following the fun is the key. Cheers Jeff Link to comment
choco.miruku
oh wow, the number of Sinkie Japanese rail modelers/collectors sure has increased. I should go check out that west coast store to find stuff i'm missing out that are sold out everywhere lol. Link to comment
JR 500系
Hi Bro... The last message was a spam which I had reported, not exactly a new member so... Anyhow it's good to check out West Coast Plaza, but I doubt that's anything very interesting... The ones we love are all available only online... One thing we could do is we can get together to save shipping costs! :) Link to comment
changkh
indeed, went to take a look after jr500 nozomi mentioned. they only stock a few structure models. not sure if it's KATO or TOMIX. no point making way there specially unless you happen to be in that area. Link to comment
choco.miruku
that's kind of disappointing... oh well, online is still the best place :) Link to comment
jrcrunch
any good place to buy japanese HO or N scale trains in singapore? Link to comment
JR 500系
any good place to buy japanese HO or N scale trains in singapore? Nope. Not that I know off. N Scale, or rather train modelling is pretty much very dead here.... There used to be a shop in Adelphi but that closed down too... Link to comment
