katoftw
So the USA government will be paying for the JR Passes? So go to Japan, ride the trains, return home, tell everyone else we need HSR? Link to comment

bikkuri bahn
Sadly (and funny too), the satire in the Onion is often more relevant and telling than so-called "real" news... Link to comment

So go to Japan, ride the trains, return home, tell everyone else we need HSR? No just fly to japan ride your HSR in Japan, much easier and cheaper than actually building this in the US. cteno4
No, onion is serious journalism, just hitting the major media now here. Modest stimulation to the airlines and all, elections coming up here. Cheers Jeff Link to comment
westfalen
This could be the only way Australians will see high speed rail too, might forwad this to Tony Abbott. Link to comment
cteno4
Probably the only way to get something faster than the Acela here! Sad when the onion starts making up stuff that makes more sense than reality or the real media... Cheers Jeff Link to comment
Ewan.in.gz
Hahaha..... Considering that various American administrations have been saying the US needs HSR since the Tokaido Shinkansen proved the viability of HSR, it just sounds like the Democrats are looking for more votes.... Assuming that anyone is going to take this report seriously! Ewan Link to comment
