Sascha
I got my Kato E259 today (One week for delivery from Tokyo to the US. WOW), but it seems as it runs to slow. I have the Kato 0-2000 50th LTD and it runs faster than the E259. While the E259 has finished one loop, the Shinkansen made 1 1/2. Is that normal? Link to comment
railsquid
No idea if it's normal as I don't have an E259, but as a Shinkansen will outpace an E259 in real life it's not totally unrealistic. The Shinkansen motor is certainly very zippy, presumably because it's designed to power up to 16 car trains. I haven't exactly run any trials but it would certainly outpace anything else I've got, including possibly the Tomix 100-kei unit. Edited October 8, 2014 by railsquid 1 Link to comment
katoftw
depends on the gearing. but you will generally find kato shinkansens will outpace normal commuter trains even if same power applied from the power pack. 1 Link to comment
Sascha
Great. Thats what I needed to hear. I thought about the Shinkansen being faster, but I didn't thought that they would actually adopt it to model trains. Thanks guys, was worried there for a bit!!! Link to comment
