ToniBabelony
There are always those small discrepancies in railway history that can justify the strangest trains on your layout. As a Keisei fan, there are those exceptions of single special runs of Hokusō trains on the Keisei Main line (empty runs and that one Hokusō 7000 that ran to Ueno on a blue monday), Shin-Keisei trains to Takasago (until July 1992), and a few Skyliners running on the Keikyū Main line (I'll probably make an entry about these things some time later). However, I have now found a very strange and stunning one. A Izukyū 2100 series Resort 21 Ltd. Express train (2nd edition) for a five days event in 1986 June 18 to 22 on the Tōkyū Den'entoshi line. This was in commemoration of the 20 years of the line. The train also went on other lines of the Tōkyū network. In 1988 the 3rd edition of the 2100 series had a test run on the Tōkyū network. Probably to investigate a possible run from Shibuya on the Tōkyū network to Shimoda over the JR East network (a corporate bureaucratic nightmare I'd presume at that time). If only this could happen again, I would be extremely happy! Tōkyū doesn't have a history and a reason to run Ltd. Express specific train types on their network. The thing that comes closest to a dedicated Express service train set, would be the Ōimachi line 6000 type. railsquid
Not quite what you're looking for, but the sight of a steam locomotive and a Shinkansen running together is always one which intrigues me for some reason. Edited September 12, 2014 by railsquid Link to comment
Guest keio6000
how do i justify running my newly bought amtrak amfleet phase vi coaches alongside the tgv pse and marunouchi 02 again? :) 1 Link to comment
railsquid
Well obviously the TGV is in America for testing as an Acela replacement, and the Marunouchi stock was on its way to Buenos Aires to replace the old Marunouchi stock running there, but was diverted to augment the Boston metro network. ToniBabelony
I have no idea for excuses to run trains from abroad on your layout. You can always pull the 'developing country economic relief' card. Link to comment
