chinbeard
Has anyone used the NanoGauge unit ? They are about £17-$28 and I came across them on YouTube (I forgot to flag it sorry) where a chap was comparing power/drive units to use in 'Shorty's', I believe it has all wheel drive and was the heaviest. http://plamoya.com/en/nanogauge-motor-unit-ngex002-p-95258.html?cPath=1554 Link to comment
kvp
You problably mean this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANc0U-Um_e0 The nano gauge power unit is much larger than Bandai sized power units, so you can't really fit it into standard shorties. For slightly longer ones, you can use tomix power units. Also, i don't have the heart to tell the guy who made the video, that he put the bogies onto the steam locomotive the wrong way. You supposed to remove two more layers of bricks, so the driving wheel imitations are level with the bogies and sit above the track. Also, he installed the tender bogie plates rotated 90 degrees, which is not only ugly, but makes them run unstable. ps: The power unit and the bogies could be usable for scratch builders, since you can remove the top connecting block from the bogies and it's possible to install custom (and more realistic) sideframes. The power unit should be strong enough to move 4 cars made out of relatively solid abs, much heavier than a Bandai train. Link to comment
