Commemorative coins for Shinkansen 50th

It appears the Japan mint will be releasing some limited edition coins to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Shinkansen.

 

There will be a 100Y and a 1000Y coin released with differend designs.

 

No information as to when the will be released but it appears they will only be avaliable through the Japan mint. Nothing is shown on their English web page as yet.

 

Anyone in japan interested in grabbing a set of these for an Aussie Shinkansen Fan? :)

Rather wish they'd do it with a 500 yen coin, such as done for the world cup.

I would also love those coins! They were introduced since Feb/March so yeah... I'm not sure if they had already conducted sales.

 

By the way , my friend said reservations must be made from banks. All in Japan. I called the Singapore branches (I live in Singapore) ,and none of the banks knew about this.
