Hello Mr Ochanomizu,

I can imagine either of these scenarios:

1. Some USPS worker realised what it was, took it home for his the weekend for his son to play with, forgot to bring it back on the Monday.  Got into trouble with the boss, remembered to bring it back on the Friday, but since the weekend was coming up, let his son play for another weekend, brought it back into USPS, where it continued on its journey to you.

2. It fell out of the sack, got dragged along by the forklift, ended up under some industrial shelving with the rats, was discovered on the alternate Friday when the cleaners were sweeping the floors.  Got thrown back into the unsorted mail heap, failed a drug scan, got X-Rayed, was deemed safe but it was the weekend and the guys wanted to go for a beer, was remembered on the following Tuesday, where it continued on its journey to you.

;)

I am joking, of course ...

Ups can take a week to just get a package across the us/canada boarder! Funny it's easier and usually faster and cheaper to ship sal from Japan than other similar ways from canada to the us...

don't get me started with postal shipping in to canada from the US lol....

even with priority post, the most reliable usps method, it will take 2 weeks at BEST. I've received SAL packages from HK and japan in 5 business days. Fastest EMS package I've ever gotten from HK or JP was 3 business days, today in fact, a package from HK was shipped on the 2nd and arrived on the 5th.

Number 2 does seem like the most plausable scenerio. :laughing3:

I'm waiting on a SAL package that was maked as sent on the 13th of August.  The day before the 4 day Golden Week holiday period.

Panicking a little as I've never had a SAL package longer than 21 days, (due to easter holiday break).  Most are normally just 10-14 days for my location.

26 days is the earlist I can get it if it arrives Monday.

/pedant hat

Golden Week is in May, the August holidays are the Obon festival and aren't public holidays, though many (but by no means all) companies have a company-wide holiday that week. Shouldn't affect package delivery much.
