Darren Jeffries
Ok so following a recent discussion thread, the Admin team have listened and delivered! There are now 4 platforms, please take the time to have a look at what we now have and how the existing boards have been split. Also please note the new boards in place for some topics that seem to come up from time to time. For one week only, I have switched on the ability for every member to help tidy up the forums by moving topics to more relevant boards and split topics that have gone off topic and would be more relevant in another board. By doing this we are putting our trust in our members, which i have no doubt will prove to be justified. Please note however, abuse of the new abilities will be dealt with appropriately. Boring bit over, please do let us know if there is anything missing, or that could be changed. Thanks Admin Team Link to comment
scott
Wow--nicely done! Now all we have to do is fill up the empty boards... (Just in time for me to go away for a week... ;) ) Link to comment
to2leo
I got to say this is the most democratic and friendly board I have ever seen! Thanks Admin Staff and members for making this board great! ;D Link to comment

There's a hell of a lot of them in the off-topic sub-forum too that can be moved. WAs going to do that tonight, but I can't figure it out on this software. Link to comment
CaptOblivious
If you have access to such moderator tools, you will find them at the very bottom of each thread's page; you'll see "Move Topic | Remove Topic | Lock Topic | Set Topic Sticky | Merge Topics | Link to Calendar" At least, that's what I see :D Link to comment

Darren Jeffries
Aaron, I think this is just your account (and anyone who is tetsudo staff) I will rectify this. You wont have access to lock topic, this is a pure moderator tool, sorry. Darren Link to comment
disturbman
There is really a bunch of hard to move topics. Where to put sound related topics( train sound, music made from train sound...)? I can't even fathom the answer. The same for everything that is related to non-japanese prototypes or travels... Link to comment
Darren Jeffries
Music, i would put in off-topic... Train sounds i would put in Prototypes. But if you feel there would be a more appropriate board, or there is a need for a new board, please just say. Link to comment
Darren Jeffries
Update.... one further board added under platform 3: http://www.jnsforum.com/index.php/board,46.0.html For Non-Japanese prototypes and travel. Link to comment
disturbman
I moved a lot of things around but i'm finished for the moment. Edit: Also, maybe you sould united DCC & Electrical and Computer Control/Automation. The subject overlap a little bit and having an empty category is never nice. Link to comment

I agree…We had this split out once in the past, and came to the same conclusion then, didn't we? Link to comment
scott
Hmm....two of the four topics under "Japan and Japan Rail" are odd fits--"photography" could be a model topic or a general rail topic. And "non-Japanese..." looks odd under "Japan and Japan Rail." :) Maybe those two could go under "other destinations," and leave more room for Japanese topics as people come up with them? (I just locked the screen shot thread Friday night) It's not a big deal, just noting that it was one of the options I did have, Link to comment
disturbman
Maybe it would be wise not to use the "moved box" when we are moving a thread otherwise it will flood the forum with unecessary new threads. Link to comment
Guest ___
It's not really going to matter after a week if even that long. the ability for us to move threads is just to clean up the forums at which point this mod-function will be rescinded and everything will be back to normal. Just bare with everyone for a few days until the forums are cleaned up, threads properly moved about. It looks like for the most part that most everything has been shuffled around to where they should be, and everything will be all set. I think for the most part, we pretty much moved everything to where they should be as it is. This is not exactly going to be a daily regular thing around here. Link to comment
