velotrain
TU-13S electronic tank micro I saw the Aru "smart phone" micro layout and couldn't resist - just the thing to show others how really small a "layout" can be. They illustrate it with an old-fashioned trolley on their 16A power chassis, so I ordered those also. However, when I got the package from Yoshiya of Ginza Light Railways, I decided that the TU-13S chassis I also ordered was a much more appropriate size for the 60mm X 125mm loop. I wondered what sort of body I could put on it, and considered checking Shapeways. I then thought it might be fun to build something more in line with the "high tech" nature of the layout than the Aru trolley. I had a couple of PCB's on hand that I was willing to sacrifice for the cause. This is what I came up with after a whole lot of sawing, cutting, filing and sanding. Oh yes, add in a small amount of 5-minute epoxy - although it seemed to take a lot longer to cure on this material. My next project might be building a high-rise electronic city along the track. I'm calling it a tank because the chunky profile reminds me of the German A7V of WW1. Charles 1 Link to comment

velotrain
I think so - the info "sheet" mentions that (I think it's the only English text on it). Separate battery case (2 AA's) with an on/off switch. I got mine here: http://www.justmystep.justhpbs.jp/sub5.html The TU-13S chassis is at the 2nd Entrance. It's a bit fragile, as the axles can easily pop out, and the sideframes need to be bent to retain them, but not so much that they cause friction. Link to comment

velotrain
Moonie? You live in Canada, so I'm surprised you don't know of this term. I didn't make this stuff up - just repeating what I learned in Montreal. Loonie = $1, Moonie = $2 Link to comment
tossedman
They're toonies up here. Someone was pulling your leg. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toonie Link to comment
velotrain
Not someone - dozens of someone's. Reading the history, I likely first heard "moonie" in the early days of the coin, although I believe that's also the name I heard in usage well into the current millennium. Maybe Montreal has a different culture than the Great White North. http://www.futilitycloset.com/2015/02/26/naming-change/ http://www.netfunny.com/rhf/jokes/95q4/moonie.html http://www.canadashistory.ca/Magazine/Online-Extension/Articles/The-History-of-Canadian-Currency-SYM Link to comment

EF65 1100
I have personally never heard of the term "moonie"... Loonie and Toonie are what I go by. Very nice project though! =) Link to comment
velotrain
Well - I'll be in Montreal in two months, so will see what reaction I get when I say moonie ;-) Link to comment
