cteno4
So usually there are a dozen or so little train projects lurking around my office, a structure, loco repair, some fiddle, etc. in the past I have been using little plastic trays that I buy at the dollar store or ikea, but one issue with them is that they are slick and smooth so a small tip can get small parts cooking across them easily (especially wheel sets). The other night we had sushi take out and while collecting the little plastic sushi trays it dawned on me these are perfect project trays. They have little ridges in the bottom that small bits from scooting across them plus they have a nice clear top you can pop on them for safer storage. Light, but stiff enough to hold up. Best thing is they are free! The bottom of the tray needs a coat of white spray paint to allow parts to be seen better. Also going to experiment with putting some fun foam or velvet in the bottom as well. Cheers Jeff 1 Link to comment
